Rumors turned out to be right. Fortnite is again collaborating with Stranger Things and this time, it is more than just a rumor. The number of skins is a total of five and they are massive. HYPEX, the leaker, just detonated a bomb on Twitter, confirming the return of Stranger Things in Fortnite along with five skins, one of which is the main villain, Vecna, himself. Additionally, this is going to happen on November 24, when it will be available in the item shop. This is wonderful, soon or whatever!
For those who missed the original Stranger Things crossover, Fortnite featured the Demogorgon and Chief Hopper skins at the time. But the current scenario is super hype. Five skins. FIVE. Vecna is one of the characters, which is really scary but also very cool at the same time. Just think about that psychic nightmare running around the island as your character. Totally insane.
The players’ reactions online were immediate and just as usual, completely insane. People are so excited that they are even making wild guesses about the other four skins. The demand for Steve Harrington is truly outrageous. There are posts solely asking for Steve. One player candidly stated, “If we don’t get Steve I will kms,” which is… dramatic but you can feel the commitment. Another one said, “best be steve brah.” The Steve Harrington fan club is undeniably a mighty force, man.
But it isn’t all about Steve. Players are naming their dream teams. Some are betting on the primary kids-Dustin, Mike, Lucas, and Will. Others want the older teen squad with Steve, Nancy, Robin, and maybe Jonathan. The response from iSteezzzyy made it clear: “MY BASE PREDICTIONS FOR THE LAST FOUR. DUSTIN, MIKE, LUCAS, WILL. OR DUSTIN, STEVE, NANCY, JONATHAN.” So the guessing is all over the place, but the wish for the Scoops Ahoy Steve skin is a recurring theme. Someone even mentioned a “Scoops Ahoy lil whip,” which I don’t even know what that means but it sounds absolutely fantastic.
And then we have the group of Eddie Munson fans. Oh boy, the Eddie proponents are really present. “We need an Eddie Munson skin!!” one user insisted. But then, in a depressing yet realistic response, another user just replied, “Eddie is dead.” Ouch. Harsh but from a storyline perspective very true. Still, it doesn’t make people want him any less.
On the other hand, not everybody is ecstatic. A user going by the name of Dudu_Joestar flatly stated, “The worst collabs always get more skins ffs.” Which is indeed a very relatable feeling. There are times when you come across a collab that you totally do not care about, and it is showered with a lot of content while your favorite thing gets nothing. This is such a universal gamer experience.
However, the excitement is real. People are already concerned about their wallets. One user posted the pleading face emoji along with the message, “imagine how tired my wallet is.” Yes, five premium skins are surely going to make it tough to maintain the V-Bucks balance. But to the Stranger Things mega-fans, it might be worth it.
What’s more, the fact that these are all unique skins has been confirmed and this is indeed a very interesting aspect. A user by the name of remperfect4u directly asked HYPEX: “are the 4 other skins also unique?” Which hints that they will not only differ in styles but will be completely new models. This is indeed very important as it means more variety and probably more intricate designs.
Of course, the inclusion of Vecna has led to more debates about possible gaming features. Will there be a new mythic? A Lethal Company-style event? The first collab was quite standard, just skins. But this time with five skins and a big villain maybe Epic has something bigger planned. It could be a mini-game or a special weapon. The options are somewhat limitless.
November 24th coincides with Fortnite’s usual update timetable. It falls after the present season has calmed down but before the massive Chapter 5 hype starts building up. It is an ideal moment to release a huge collaboration keeping players engaged. Moreover, the time is right with the final season of Stranger Things around the corner for cross-promotion.
But what can we infer from all of the above? The answer is very simple; Fortnite has not only maintained its position at the top of the pop culture crossover game but has actually made it even more difficult for others to compete. They are not just limiting themselves to one or two skins anymore; they are doing full sets. Five skins mean a whole team. Literally, a full Stranger Things squad could just drop into PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
