Fortnite OG Season 7 teasers have been released, and the community is very much engaged in speculation and memories. The first teaser image, as it was expected, raised up all sorts of theories referring back to Chapter 1, linking its original narrative to the one of the present Fortnite. This is a very committed effort on the part of Epic Games, who are still clamoring for the player characters to transcend the past and come to the present in Fortnite.
However, what is it that players are really observing in the teasers? The image shows a robot figure which is pretty much looking like A.I.M., a robot from Chapter 1 Season 6 yet with some peculiar characteristics that keep theorists busy. One of the commonly talked-about theories comes from FNAssist, who tweeted, “what if it’s AMIE from The Seven this time instead of A.I.M.” The influence of this single tweet has already sparked dozens of replies and discussions about the possible overlap of the timelines.
The A.M.I.E. and A.I.M. mix-up is actually quite complex lore. The user Knusperfrosch gave a very detailed explanation in the comments, saying, “Chapter 1 Season 6’s A.I.M. wasn’t AIMIE. AIMIE the A.I. in the Scientist’s computer stole A.I.M.’s robot body (or at least the snapshot of it) and downloaded herself into it. Then she went through the portal that lead to the Chrome or Last Reality realm, but didn’t time-travel.” So, to put it simply, we may be dealing with multiple A.I. entities that are possibly switching between the timelines???
Players are detecting some really intriguing connections that lend support to this theory. User Fungi488 put forth the idea, “Rift gate was red, OG rift and cube were red. What if Amie’s rift gate took her to OG to find the corrupted visitor?” – which actually sounds quite plausible if you consider the fact that the color red has become so strongly associated with both the original Season 7 and the recent Chapter 4 content that it is almost inseparable.
Another strong factor is the nostalgia. User Jade shared, “I remember playing season 7 when I was in like middle school 😠i was so innocent but Fortnite chapter 6 made me into a literal online egirl ho 😔 which, honestly, is my mood too. The emotional bond that players have with the original Season 7 is very much obvious in the replies, and several users are very openly acknowledging that the nostalgia factor is overwhelming.
What is most fascinating is that Epic seems to be merging the previously separate storylines into one grand narrative. User InfernoDrawz speculated, “as OG and BR have been more and more intertwined lately, and next season so clearly relates to the 7, that this is the perfect lead in and probably what they’ll do. 2 Season 7s, Ice King and Kaiju stuff potentially tied, everything’s aligning too well!!!” This means we could actually be witnessing some kind of a timeline convergence event.
Additionally, the question of what this implies for the return of The Seven has been raised. User Cklavaboy asked, “could explain the seven returning 🤔” which yes, is the major question that everybody wants the answer to. If AMIE is somehow involved and she is connected to The Seven, then the return of some important storyline characters from Fortnite’s past is very likely.
A few players have already begun to make requests for what they would like to see. User fnttcms penned a request, “can you leak the kill bill skin please,” because clearly there will always be someone asking for that in the middle of all the lore discussions. And user W1qAnimations responded with, “Still need that green version,” along with a picture that seems to show a different color scheme for the robot that has been hinted.
Nevertheless, the excitement is mixed with some worries. User Knusperfrosch also remarked, “Just sad that this time around there won’t be loading screens that explain what’s happening,” which is a very smart observation – the original Season 7 used to have loading screens that gradually revealed the story and it is still uncertain if the OG version will employ similar narrative techniques.
What makes this especially intriguing is the timing. We are, in effect, receiving a Season 7 remixed version with possible links to the current storyline. User ViceXXII speculated, “What if Ch4 Amie comes back, she found the Seven?” which would indeed be a crazy scenario where characters from different timelines are interacting through the history of Fortnite.
Overall, the community’s reaction has been largely positive, with users such as HeadhunterBoi who simply said “WAIT YESSSSS!!!!” to the AMIE theory. The energy is very much like that of the original Season 7 hype back in 2018, with battle royale fans across PlayStation and Xbox platforms eagerly awaiting what’s next.
