The Warhorse Studios has released a statement that certainly caused a stir in the entire community of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. The latest and last DLC content for the game called Mysteria Ecclesiae has been already set to be released on November 11th. Definitely, KCD2’s last content is just around the corner, and the announcement has definitely created huge excitement in the community.
The official tweet from the KingdomComeRPG account included a foreboding line that established the mood, “Under holy walls, sins are very rare to be silent,” and it also gave a very sinister hint of what the church-related mysteries that gamers would have to solve during the coming expansion. It totally gives off very strong monastery vibes, which is a perfectly reasonable conclusion and is also very hard to forget if one remembers that unforgettable monk life episode in the first game. The players perceive it this way, and they are thrilled to experience again that historical immersiveness which the series has mastered so well.
But the most crucial aspect, which is the subject of the day, is the word “final.” The announcement has drawn quite a number of responses, and emotionally the most obvious reaction is sadness about the last DLC. One of the players called Aeris was so devastated that he literally wrote “Noooo, not the final 😭” which is a very good representation of the general mood of the community. Another user, Malgi, stated that he/she/they cannot take the final word literally and asked his/her/their readers to avoid such expressions as this one which is great for conveying the pain. Without a doubt, the Kingdom Come gaming community has indeed established a very close relationship with the game and is adamant that the only way it can be continued is through new content.
Yet the comments imply that there are users with mixed feelings among them. Most of the players have been very positive with their reactions, while at the same time a smaller but very vocal group has been very critical of the combat system in KCD2 in comparison to that of the first game. One user named Garbo34 even went as far as to call the combat “a joke” and to say “2 blows done” which signifies he/she/they finds it very easy. Another user by the name Brave Heart who commented that “The first one is better than this bore fest” which, ouch, that is quite harsh. But then you have players like Tenchu who are praising Warhorse for how they are handling their DLCs, such as saying “No other company gives all these DLC’s with ONE EXPANSION pass like KCD does it” and telling how much they love learning history through the game.
Naturally, the practical questions that people are interested in have also been coming up quite a lot. For instance, people want to know about the price of the game, especially our Russian gamers—one of them has even asked “Сколько стоит в рублях?” which means “How much in rubles?” Collectors of physical editions are concerned about the availability of a complete edition that contains all DLCs on disk, and some of them are even proposing the idea of potentially remastering the first game for PS5. Another point of curiosity is that this DLC might bring in new weapons and one player has drafted a very specific question regarding longbows asking if more powerful longbows will be introduced.
What is quite surprising is the number of players who have already made up their minds regarding the timing of playing through this last DLC. JstBringIt has said they are completing all the games they are currently playing, but the perfect timing is set to start playing KCD2 when all the DLC is out. That is really a smart move—waiting for the full experience before getting into it.
The sentiment of the community is a bit mixed; parts are very excited to have new content while others are sad it is the end of KCD2 expansions. Aasikaijanen, going the route of straight up pleading, asked Warhorse to carry on with the Kingdom Come saga “I really hope that Kingdom come series continues!!” The affection for this medieval RPG world is very much alive, even if the sequel is not perfect, and some are quite critical of it.
So, you now have the date—November 11th—marked on your calendars, since Mysteria Ecclesiae is shaping up to be a classic case of the Kingdom Come fusion of lore and ethics at the same time. Regardless of whether you are the one wanting more content or the one feeling sad about the demise of the whole DLC thing, this last chapter within those holy walls is probably going to be unforgettable. The reactions are manifold already; they range from sheer excitement to unreserved mourning—which only confirms the degree of people’s involvement in the atmosphere Warhorse has created. Here’s wishing that it ends with a bang not with a whimper!
JRPG fans and Xbox players alike will find something to appreciate in this final expansion.
