Capcom has recently made a huge announcement for Monster Hunter Wilds players and honestly, the excitement is really there. The introduction of two new 9★ monsters complete with a lot of blood and gore is scheduled for October 22nd, and they are going to be a bit of a mess, to say the least. The arch-tempered Nu Udra, by the way, will be the first monster in the history of the game that, through a completely new and permanently available Event Quest, players can encounter as a 9★ AT monster. But on the other hand, you have the 9★ Guardian Fulgur Anjanath who will be coming to the hunters only during the Limited-time Event Quest; its presence will be felt throughout the land. So, yes, this is going to be one of those updates.

What exactly is the threat level of these two new monsters? Well, Arch-tempered monsters are nothing more than the highly powerful and extremely dangerous versions of the already existing ones, the names of which you might know and… might even love? Most likely they will be feared rather than loved. Manga is introducing the fiery squid-like creature first into the arch-tempered category, which is going to be rewarding you with special prizes timed with its arrival.

Plus, its presence in a permanent quest is making it really accessible for players who otherwise lose out on such content due to weird rotation schedules. However, the thing is, there’s Guardian Fulgur Anjanath. The limited-time tag gets to people always and community talk indicates it will probably rotate back eventually though. But still, the fear of missing out is there,

the online reaction has been a total mixed bag which is quite normal for Monster Hunter news. Some players are super excited. One user, Nick, tweeted, “Definitely excited! Can’t wait to hunt arch-tempered fire squid! 🔥🦑”. That seems to be the general vibe of most hunters. But then again… there’s the opposite side. The mention of Anjanath stirred up some… strong emotions. User torolovess simply commented, “ykw fuck anjanath 😭”. Which, mood. Anjanath has a bad reputation as a bully, and a 9★ version sounds like a nightmare. Moreover, another hunter called J, jokingly, asked, “Are you sure about Anja? I think it’s gonna be too busy falling over and picking itself up throughout the whole fight”. So true, Anja does trip over its own feet a lot.

However, the situation is not only about hype and memes. The comments soon turned into a wishlist of future updates. Players are absolutely asking for more now. “Elder Dragons and Sieges… When?” questioned Carlos Espinoza. Another hunter, Goss Harag Enjoyer, begged, “PLEASE M… make arch-tempered rey dau and uth duna 9 star at some point”.

It looks like the community views this as a step in the right direction, but wants the developers to keep the content flowing for other monsters as well. They have even made a request for a 9★ Doshaguma. The demands are endless, seriously.

And then, there were the… technical complaints. One of the users, itsaTrail, got into a mini-rant about the Insect Glaive weapon: “fix IG, the weapon is forced to use evade extender and evade window 5 just because it cannot utilize 40-40 frames dodge, it stucks with 60 60 which, and you design monsters moves based on that 20 frames, good difficulty design philosophy.” Now that is some serious nitty-gritty discussion of game mechanics. This player has certainly been carted too many times while trying to look fancy with aerial moves.

The limited-time vs. permanent debate also sparked up in the comments. Some players are very much against the rotating event model. User Alsen99 called it “Weaponizing FOMO,” arguing that Capcom does not tell you when a quest will return, which leads players to log in just out of fear of missing something.

But others, like PermanentlyTiredOfPeople’sShit., replied, “Ah, yes, the true fear of missing out on content that is entirely unnecessary to complete, for any real game progression. That WILL rotate back around eventually, trully. How dare they.” It’s one of those classic arguments among gamers that never really gets resolved.

In the midst of everything crazy, there was even some crown-hunting strategy being shared, which is the most obvious sign of Monster Hunter community behavior. Users R3M4G and IzumiYukaSmile were chatting about the cruel and exhausting process of resetting the game repeatedly to hunt for large and small gold crowns. R3M4G described the “pain” of a 5-hour reset session to get a small Gold Rathalos crown. That is either dedication or madness. Probably both.

So what does this entire conversation mean for Monster Hunter Wilds? It implies that the endgame is going to be extremely hard and new objectives set for the players. Arch-tempered monsters are the ultimate trial for veteran hunters and making them 9★ threats is just a hint that PlayStation is primarily focusing on its most loyal customer base.
