A single tweet from the official PlayOverwatch account started this frenzy in the Overwatch community. The tweet said something cryptic about Ramattra: ‘Leader of Null Sector? Loyal friend? Why not both?’ accompanied by some robot emojis. And then it asked which hero the players wanted to see covered next; loud and clear was the response from the community: Ramattra content, and they want it NOW.
So, why is it such a big deal? Well, basically, Overwatch players have been begging for a Ramattra mythic skin forever. Mythic skins are the best things in Overwatch 2, in cosmetic terms: They are very detailed, have a few ways for you to customize them, and just are the coolest thing you can obtain through a battle pass. And now, everyone is in complete agreement: Ramattra deserves a mythic skin this coming season.
And oh, the replies! They are totally crazy. At least 90 percent of the replies are screaming for Ramattra mythic skins. TA_Solberg simply says “Ramattra mythic 🙏🙏🙏,” throwing in prayer emojis like a genuine plea for salvation. Then, goodkiittyy says, “Ram mythic pls <3,” with a heart, while oiilxliio follows with “An everlasting dance-emote to Ramattra, and Mythic skin!🤞😉” In other words, give us everything.
But it just keeps going: players specify exactly what they want. MadameWesker said, “Give the best omnic boy a dance emote already instead of giving more to those who already have 3+ dance emotes 😭,” which is a fair point, isn’t it? Why do some heroes have multiple dance emotes while others end up without one? It looks a little unfair at face value if one puts any thought into it.
It goes even deeper. Dimileo2 commented, “So he is getting the new mythic, we all wanted a support to get it: Illari or Lifeweaver or Lucio,” meaning that there is actually some disagreement among players on who should get the next mythic skin. Some seem to say supports have been neglected while tanks like Ramattra are getting too much love. But others disagreed, saying Ramattra deserves it all the more.
The most bizarre would be random chatter in between. There’s this entire thread in Spanish between patgames and ShikiMei890 about patgames lamenting being banned from some Latin American Overwatch group? “Solo me estoy deshaogando, lamentablemente me banearon del grupo latinoamerica,” which is basically him venting because he got banned from the Latin America group. Then ShikiMei890 kommentar, “Hola bro, ahora te encuentro por acá xd,” or “hey bro, I find you here now, lol.” So random but in a weird way rather wholesome?
Some people let their love flow as well. ItsThiccatron just spammed “SIGMA SIGMA SIGMA SIGMA,” attempts to will a Sigma mythic into existence. raijinshi_tv loudly and repeatedly demanded “Brig needs a new skin guys. BRIG!!!!” And fenbyrat is like, “Baptiste or sigma!!! For sure.” So it isn’t like everyone has agreed to Ramattra, but by far, he’s the most requested.
We even have some fanart that is really interesting. WilderPotato shared some concepts for an omnic Lifeweaver that actually got some attention. TarhosTheKnight said, “Oooooh ok that is actually a fire looking Omnic Lifeweaver concept.❤️🔥” with saddekku agreeing, “This looks amazing.” Just see how crazy creative this community gets.
And now for the main drama: mythic skins. SodaCanVampJinx threatened/promised? “I will come back for a Rama mythic,” implies he stopped playing Overwatch but will return if there is a Ramattra mythic.
The timing, it does raise some eyebrows: BubbleBuzter asked, “So, overwatch… any updates on that season 19 trailer…?” Then MoltenPanic filled in, “So close to the next season… hmmmmmmm,” hence everyone is waiting for the revelation of a new season, hopefully with Ramattra in it.
So here come the conspiracy theories. XtraBenjamin declared with a thinking emoji while mentioning Bastion: “Bastion mentioned!, thats for sure Bastion mythic confirmed season 19!?!?!” But like… nobody else mentioned Bastion? People just see what they want to see.
This whole situation just goes on to show how heated Overwatch players tend to get over the best cosmetics for their favorite heroes. It is not only about gameplay; skins and emotes and all that jazz really matter to people. They have those characters they get attached to, and once they get attached, they want to see those characters recognized with the best cosmetics.
You know what is funny? That tweet was probably just meant as a lighthearted little engagement post, but here we are now, staring at this massive demand for Ramattra content. The players have spoken: they want that omnic leader to be given the mythic treatment. Whether Blizzard actually respects these words… well, that is the million-dollar question, isn’t it? By the time the Season 19 trailer arrives, we will probably have some answers, and everyone will be watching it so intently that they will be able to tell if there’s a hint of Ramattra anywhere.
The whole scene is kind of funny really-the amount of passion poured by people onto wanting digital cosmetics for characters. But then again, the characters really mean a lot to the players. They play them for hundreds of hours, learn the lore, and somehow associate themselves with the characters. So, in some way, it does make sense to want your main to get that extra shine. Judging from the responses, it looks like a lot of happy faces will be made should the Overwatch team put forth the idea of making Ramattra into the next mythic. The community’s passion for these digital items is also evident on platforms like PlayStation and Xbox.
