According to trusted leaker ShiinaBR, the Fortnitemares, an annual Halloween event in Fortnite, is set to be completely revealed within four days, thereby sending the Fortress-playing population on warp-speed whirlwinds of speculation and expectation as to what spooky activities might be staged in the game this year.
The big reveal can happen right now or in the next minute, but the Fortnitemares held in the very recent past gives plenty of assurance that this will include good old fun-type Halloween stuff. As in new skins, some fresh game modes, and some really creepy decorations over the island. It’s something that players have really been waiting forever for, and with the knowledge it is just days away, the hype train is officially onward.
With so many replies to ShiinaBR’s tweet, it would seem the gamers are quite specific in what they expect from this year’s Fortnitemares. One player demanded PeaceMaker in the item shop again because they didn’t have “the moneh to buy him when he was in the itemshop” before. Which, to be honest, very relatable. V-Bucks don’t come easy, guys.
Though perhaps the most exciting buzz centers around the biggest case for the Scooby-Doo and Scream collabs. Those said franchises have been mentioned by several players, including one who shared a link to what arguably looks like a leaked content clip. Then someone else chipped in, “They better not messed up Scooby Doo,” and in all honesty, very relatable. We’ve all bent over backward in disappointment for collaborations that never quite made it to the hype before.
Suggestions for other horror-themed stuff included someone wanting “Camp Crystal Lake POI,” obviously a nod to Friday the 13th and Jason Voorhees. Someone also asked for “Santa style for Art the Clown,” which is… a choice, for sure. In the realm of Ghostface from Scream, there was one comment reminiscing, “I remember begging on my knees and praying for ghostface to come to fortnite… good times.”
The excitement in the replies is replete. One player gave voice, “I’m so fucking exited man,” which sums up the vibes perfectly. Then another says, “Lowkey been waiting for this 😮💨 Fortnitemares always hits different.” And they are not wrong. Epic Games goes hard for their Halloween events, and this year won’t be any different.
Some confusion about the date, however, was to ripen with one player insisting, “October 8?” And another one, sadly realizing that they indeed had to wait, “4 days? :(“. But hey, good things come to those who wait, right? Maybe?
Financial concern found its way into bikini short inquiries. One player expressed, “I literally want all there should be a pass for this,” whilst the other one sobbed, “I got 12k vb, my Wallet is begging for mercy I’m so broke now”. Welcome to the Fortnite Life; your wallet shall never be safe with those alluringly great skins.
Others are rooting for certain characters, Spawn included, with that account liberating an image that says “Is Spawn In Fortnite?” Then, we talk about Demon Slayer, Huggy Wuggy from Poppy Playtime, and a whole lot more horror icons. The list is long and varied, indicating how on its own theme, Fortnite has become a melting pot of player cultures.
Even more interesting are the players already debating what constitutes Fortnitemares and what counts as mere collaboration content. In one exchange, players were even debating whether Tron should be considered part of the Halloween event or not. Like, does neon grid stuff feel spooky to you? Not really, but hey, to each their own.
Right on time for Halloween in just days, this could have never been better. Returns from past excuses and expectations would suggest this one should be the biggest yet. Potential movie crossovers, Halloween original skins, and some limited-time game modes will leave everyone foaming with all excitement through October.
So, what can one actually expect? In the previous years, there undoubtedly would be map alterations, bringing in a spookier theme, probably some Halloween-related weapons or items, or very possibly, tons of new skins in the item shop, and maybe a game mode. Considering how many players have been chatting about those Scooby-Doo leads, that could be one huge W for Epic Games.
That the full reveal comes in just four days practically means that we won’t have to wait long for the answer to what Epic has been cooking up. And being so creative with the past collaborations from Marvel to Star Wars, to now potentially classic horror franchises makes this Fortnitemares one that would go down in history.
Players better start saving those V-Bucks right about now. Rumors suggest there are skins one definitely must grab. Your wallet may not survive; this locker definitely needs new skins! Fortnitemares is always one of Fortnite‘s statement events, and this one looks like it won’t be any different. Now, brace yourself for some spooky fun; Halloween in Fortnite is just around the corner.
The event is also available on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
