An enigmatic tweet dropped by the official Elden Ring account left everyone perplexed, with the desperate masses demanding their “DLC.” “A faint gleam runs across a steady blade, carving a fell wake through the wretched spawn of the night.” The tags attached were #ELDENRING and #NIGHTREIGN. The image is atmospheric and moody, and it is just the kind of art only FromSoftware can conjure, presenting a scene where Wylder is bowing his head.

Comes chaos at the very moment. Hundreds of comments demanding an expansion filled the replies section with suspense for DLC. The desire for new content is brewing, and the cryptic poetical nature of the tweet only fan the flames.

Through direct asking, @Manal_972 said, “When to issue dlc?” while just throwing in another “DLC come on! 💀” was @karmak0smik. There’s sheer desperation. Then there is @IamPhilMike, “DLC when? 😉” Dawn-wink-trying-to-be-cute-but-not-so-much-unwilling-to-hide-impatience surface-level. @SupremeOneO lowered it to almost nothing with “Dlc pls 😔” which is basically what that emoji said about how every soul of the community feels right now.

Enter the mess! Confusion is there as to when we will truly see DLC. @Keshawn_Montana asked to one, “Marchhh ?? I swear it was supposed to be sometime the end of this year.” Then @CritterBrad commented, “I think they said march.” To which @steeler_gang_6 answered, “It was supposed to be this year,” which, so… does any of us actually know?? Classic FromSoftware treatment of just having everyone clueless.

Some players dig in with their options. @dewliciouz asked, “New maps? New skins? Something? 🙏😅” while @Bluurrii gave a plea, “Add Crossplatform please, thanks.” In a flurry of commands, @hellothiscris penned one tweet, “I need a new map,” and followed it with “I need DLC.” They are dying for it; they want to basically throw money at the screen.

Best part? How this is a whole worldwide reaction. @Monvey0 wrote in Arabic, “You call this news?” Honestly – mood. And @5eccr, also in Arabic: “Leave the excessive chatter and give us something new.” Meanwhile, @IMloky__ commented, “I say just give us Elden Ring 2 already,” which, like… slow the hell down, we haven’t gotten the first DLC yet!

The images themselves invite some speculation and debate. @vijayandrewsj pointed out, “Duchess quote with Wylder head down pic !? im confused” and honestly same?? Who is Wylder? What does this have to do with Night Reign? Is this hinting at new story content? New characters? For FromSoftware, this is cryptic messaging on another level.

That’s when, in the middle of all the DLC hype, some players began to find technical issues. “Am I the only one getting horrendous luck with relics?” @0Etherious0 grumbled. So while everybody’s screaming for new content, some are still holding on to relics from the past. The Elden Ring experience, as one would go – pain and beauty all intertwined.

Then results are more hype, full squad status. @Ludvicus bellowed, “YES THATS MY BOY I LOVE HIM” in reference to Wylder, while @nallusions posted, “WYLDER MY BBGURL 🤤🤲,” which is… intriguing. @SoulsborneHub said, “I knew you’d come good,” perhaps meaning that they’d been waiting for this very tweet their whole life.

That said – and this was by no means the first time FromSoftware has gone all cryptic and sent the community into a frenzy over nothing concrete. Bloodborne rumors, anybody? Dark Souls III DLC hints? It’s in their DNA to stir hype with a good mystery. But now, with Elden Ring their biggest-ever hit, such pressure for worthy DLC is insane.
