So, Blizzard is stocking up on gifts for the Overwatch community. Eight lucky winners will have the opportunity to own a Wuyang or Dokiwatch comic signed by the voice actors. For a collector or nerd interested in the lore of the game, this would be a big deal indeed. The timing of this competition is interesting-the events really seem to be coinciding with the fun all the players appear to be having in the new season.
Glancing through all the incoming replies really lets you think about the level of dedication of those people toward the game. One such reply was from Olivia, who voiced that she would be “absoulute honored” to have this very important thing in her collection Would certainly love the stuff, Juno, and a bit of comic collection,” Another comment was from Em, who rambled something about how much they had fun playing with friends and that Juno was “My absolute favorite character ever in a game.” Now that is passion.
I wonder what else I was describing? Yes, the entire sweepstakes: follow PlayOverwatch, like their tweet, and then comment on what you love about OW2 with the hashtag. The official rules are linked in their tweet, so you would probably want to check that out because, you know, legal stuff and all that.
It’s fabulous to find out all the different reasons the people share for loving Overwatch 2. Some are steady-grinders-Scott even said screams at your teammates are one of those “invaluable bonding experiences that no one could ever replace.” Probably that’s how I feel about it too. Then there are some players who simply enjoy the art style and the relationships between heroes. Yuan mentioned enjoying their interaction during matches through voice lines, with hopes for more animations in the future.
Long distance relationships are coming up too. Several players shared on how Overwatch has helped them with that, or meet their almost-future spouses. Like CynaCephi who shared this way-too-personal story of meeting their best friend and now spouse in a quick play game. We’re talking kind of wholesome amidst all of the chaos.
And the subsequent backlash for the characters is real! People’s favorites are being shouted left and right. Juno’s already anointed monster fan, with Lilaee screaming at the top of her lungs, almost: “OW I LOVE JUNO MY HEART IS HERS.” Wuyang is loved, too, with Yazzitsme simply saying, “Just love wuyang.” And then there are the Mercy mains, the D.Va lovers, and at least a couple of Venture stans-who one of them claims to being “married to them irl,” okay then.
Another way for folks to persuade each other that they love it is because of gameplay variety. Some players were into Stadium mode, with Filipino Marianne mentioning it was “way funner experience than just playing normal OW.” Then others prefer that each game feels different or feels more fad to character expression. There is even respect for particular abilities like when Tamehah just said “Ana sleep” as their answer-alright, honestly, landing those sleep darts feels insanely good.
