Fortnite players, brace yourselves; spooky season is here. A recent leak on the 8th of October from the rather reputable source of HYPEX confirmed that the whole Fortnitemares Halloween event would get underway on the 9th. The prelude will come in the form of an update featuring KPDH, a little prevarication before what promises to be one of the hugest Halloween events ever in Fortnite.
So, what is Fortnitemares after all? Should you ever miss one, this is Epic’s rendition of an annual Halloween event, which means the entire Fortnite map gets a summery makeover, along with some great LTM game modes, and of course, some of the year’s best cosmetics. The island becomes the house of ghosts and ghouls and other unspeakable things, and chilling changes will be applied to some favorite drop zones for the players.
The community has been pretty active in dialogue since these questions arose. One player forgiving the rumors of the Ash Williams outfit brought up a question as to whether it would appear after the 9th. Really, it maketh perfect sense, considering the entire horror theme – Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise would be fit right in with the Halloween vibe. While another player is longing for the Witch Helsie Package, desperate for information on upcoming cosmetics.
But wait, what was I saying? Oh yes — collaborations. One asked whether all Halloween collaborations had already been leaked or if there were more surprises to look forward to. According to Epic’s history, they usually have a few tricks up their sleeves; hence, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some unexpected crossovers during the event.
The responses show just how passionately Fortnite is into these seasonal events; “We are so back,” raved one user with an excited GIF, while another tersely added, “Neat can’t wait,” pretty much setting the tone. Some of the practically minded are already thinking ahead, saying, “More time to get vbucks,” moments before the Halloween shop item drops.
Confusion is brewing, typical for a Fortnite update. One user adds a correction for the update tomorrow being actually the OGS6 update, which contains some collaboration skins, while someone else comments that it contains OG Season 6 content. This crossover between the Halloween event and the OG season updates means players get treated to double content, which is always a nice one to go for.
Such timing is almost too damned good to be true. The lead-up update will be the go-ahead for those who need it – whether to make some V-Bucks or finish up on any challenges before the Halloween madness. Starting October the 9th, the full event will give everyone a chance to launch all the spooky fun all weekend long.
One of the major highlights of any gaming calendar has long been Fortnite’s seasonal events, and Fortnitemares has kept some of the best artistic content. From zombie-like creatures roaming the map to special Halloween-style CAD weapons and items, Epic stops at nothing for this chanting holiday. The atmosphere changes entirely, and the veterans start jumping at shadows, totally uncalled for.
By the look of the last Fortnitemares, returning favorites are almost surely probably on their way. Midas’ Revenge could be very well back by now among other spooky spins on basic Fortnite gameplay. Followed by the biggest Halloween cosmetics shop full of adorable Halloween skins, wraps, and accessories that players have been clinging to ever since.
The community speculation on very specific skins like those of the Saja boys shows just how detailed and eclectic players’ wish lists are. Although there is some early disappointment that some skins might not make it in time, the reality is that Epic release most of the content spread out throughout the event to keep it fresh.
Set your calendar reminder for October 9; that marks the starting point for a lot spookier Fortnite. Whether it’s the excitement of new game modes, cosmetic items, or just the general ambiance of Halloween, this year’s Fortnitemares definitely won’t miss the spotlight on the Fortnite calendar. And the lead-up update tomorrow is merely the beginning-the real party is next week!
PlayStation and Xbox players can look forward to exciting crossovers too.
