The leaks just can’t get any more scattered. If console specs leaked on Twitter, this esotericism would go near some serious discrimination in the entire world of consoles. The Xbox Series S is 1080p/60FPS, and that is… fine? I guess? Then you have the very, very big boys.
The Xbox Series X has two modes- one is Fidelity, which is 1440p/60FPS, and the other one is Performance at 1280p/80FPS. The base PS5 shares the exact same set of specifications of 1440p/60 for Fidelity, and 1280p/80 for Performance. But then, PS5 Pro just flexes hard- Fidelity Mode at 2160p/60FPS and Performance Mode at 1620p/80FPS; now, that is a big jump.
The comments were exactly what would be expected from gamers. Some are hyped, some are confused, the debate of Console Wars was inevitable. An @GlenSSJ_ wrote, “I dont get it the xsx can output more than ps5 base but not more than the ps5 pro why are the settings always the same as the base ps5?” which is actually a fair question. I mean, why is the flagship device of Microsoft matching the base PS5 instead of competing with the Pro?
Then the PC master race is joining in on this conversation: @FatBubba_tm said, “My PC more than those graphics while YouTube on playing the other monitor… PC Master Race wins again.” Okay, that is Alex Soucek-level PC gamer energy. But perhaps better points were posed by @zach_r_01, “Most people don’t want to spend $1k+ to have a PC that can run decent graphics and 60+ fps. Why spend that much when you can get a console for half of the cost?”
The thread turned out to be framerate debates running into a definition of what will be good in 2025. Meanwhile, @ItzNovhaTV jumped back in, stating, “120 fps is much more smoother and faster 60 fps ls outdated,” which a handful of people argued back that he literally did not know what he was talking about. The guy says he has been gaming since 2006 and owns every console out there, but people replying were like, “You really have no clue.” Those were real and brutal console wars.
What’s interesting, though, is that @BigBeeee1 said some words regarding beta performance being different: “What about these numbers? The game optimization wasn’t finished in the beta and PS5 Pro ran +100 FPS in performance mode” with a link to some performance data. So maybe these numbers aren’t the final ones? Makes sense if you ask me since the game is not out yet, and optimization is always the last thing developers work on.
So the @gamecentric_io were trying to make all common sense decisions: “80FPS on performance mode should feel buttery smooth,” and, honestly, you cannot really argue against it. Particularly for a console shooter, 80FPS is great since most console games are still aiming for 60FPS as their base. Championship levels of hardware Mark greater than that is a worthy achievement for console if I’m speaking for myself.
