There is no need for fighting in order to obtain some shameful freebies Capcom bestowed onto Street Fighter 6 players. No fighting necessary; just log in and receive the EX colors inspired by international sport competitions, available for Chun-Li, Cammy, Akuma, Marisa, Luke, and Jamie. Go and grab yours for this will be for a limited time.
Then, what is an EX color for now? Alternate palettes give a fresh look to your fighters. Here we have international sports events as a theme, pretty apt with all the international tournaments going around the world. These colors are loud, really loud, making them stand out from their regular palettes, Kittens and Ginzo; this really gives the character a little glitz and sparkle with which to celebrate.
The announcement came straight from an official Street Fighter Twitter account, featuring a crisp video of the new looks. Chun-Li is mainly in a noble deep navy blue and gold, Cammy’s color scheme is comparable to a green and white, and with Akuma brandishing it in sinister red and black- you get the drift. All have the premium EX color pop-premium on screen.
Are already a basis for different opinions among players, fighting games being what they are. The whole reply section of the tweet was a mixed bag of excitement and… usual fighting game fan style requests and complaints.
Some were vocal with great enthusiasm. “very coo thank you. Cammy’s one is my favourite,” bubsensei happily expressed. Randall-Flagg even added: “Luke looks really cool with this color.” So that’s good. Adrian (Nivvix) said straightforwardly, “The akuma color goes hard”; in other words, sick is the way to describe it.
Then came the requests. Which were so adorably nice! Now you cannot name a fighting game announcement without mains demanding their own colors. Ed’s colors were demanded by different people, Simon Shi angrily saying, “Again you forgot Ed😤,” with the angry emoji and all. Someone wanted Kimberly, another one wanted to say they love Dhalsim, then the crowd chimed in, “Where’s Rose for Season 4?”
A technical color palette discussion was also shared in the replies from different games. J V – Elena is here 🦓 talked about shadow palettes for Chun-Li in SFV and how to get them, which piqued a discussion with VISCERAL about special colors that were not unlockable. Fighting game players never forget anything about previous entries, I swear.
The weirdest reply might have been from LegacyRecolorFN who brought up Fortnite of all things, saying “1000+ days gone… Fortnite… you know what we want…” which honestly I have no idea what that’s about but it shows how cross-game the fighting community thinks sometimes.
There was even some confusion, as Ancientblade12 just asked straight off: “How do I claim these?” Another fair question, honestly, because some of these login bonuses aren’t always the clearest. Just for the record, all you have to do is log into Street Fighter 6 during the promotion and they should be there under your colors. No Fight Coins, no battle passing – just free colors.
But not all were positive. Izac called it “ass,” and said the best thing was the swimsuits, which is… a take, I guess. And Mike_Belchior spoke about grab looping problems instead of the colors, showing that gameplay balance concerns are always on players’ minds even during cosmetic updates.
The international community showed up too- Rubén wrote in Spanish telling Capcom to “learn from SNK that in Fatal Fury there’s a color editor,” which is a fair point about customization options. And J V – Elena is here 🦓 also asked in Portuguese if they could add these colors to Chun-Li’s meaning outfit 2, showing that players want these options across all costumes.
What’s interesting is that this isn’t the first time Street Fighter 6 has done free color giveaways, but it’s still appreciated. In a time when everything costs money in games, free cosmetics that actually look good are always welcome. The sports theme is particularly timely with various international competitions happening and gives the game a fresh feel without having to bother with a major update.
The colors themselves seem to be getting mostly positive reactions from what I can see. Cammy’s green and white combination seems to be a particular standout, and Akuma’s menacing red and black scheme is getting love too. Luke’s modern athletic look works really well with the sports theme, and Marisa’s gladiator aesthetic gets an interesting twist with her new colors.
It’s smart of Capcom to do these kinds of promotions between major content drops. It keeps players engaged, gives them something new to play with, and generates positive buzz without requiring massive development resources. And making them free is just good community management – it shows they appreciate their player base.
