There, out of nowhere, the guys at ValorINTEL populated the timeline with a simple question: “Do you miss Breeze?” along with the picture. And believe me, the replies were NOT holding back. It’s a slaughter out here on Twitter, and this poor map just ain’t getting any love.

In case you are not aware of what’s going on, Breeze is one of the maps in Valorant. It has been out of map rotation for a while now. Riot follows a generic style of map being taken out for rework, or for some rest, let’s say. But apparently, the ‘rest’ from Breeze is exactly the desired vacation.

The replies? Let’s have some fun with them, even if they do get nasty from time to time.

The very first response from AOTES came with a good old “hell no ahaha,” with no hesitation, thought process, or anything. An outright rejection. And that was going to be more or less the trend for the whole thread.

Kim Beish proceeded to do much more damage: “NO, DELETE THAT HORRIBLE THING OR AT LEAST CLOSE TUNEL AGAIN.” All caps? That’s serious business. They even have one very specific complaint about the tunnel? That is hate on a nearly analytical level. Were they even tortured through that map?

AdrikinsQAQ: me encanta:”no one misses this dog map” Oof. Calling it a dog map is another level of disrespect in gamer jargon. That’s like the ultimate insult. It doesn’t just mean bad, it means worst.

And then there’s ruta, sitting back in anticipation of his G2 Mimi response, which is funny, as if everyone expects some pro to tear this map to pieces in 5 seconds too. It’s like only waiting for the finishing blow.

Best might be Sofu, who’s confused: ‘What happened to Breeze’. Meaning they didn’t even notice it was gone! That might’ve been the most crushing response. The map became out of rotation and some players didn’t even realize it! That’s how little effect some players had on the gameplay.

So what is going on there with Breeze? Why so much hate? To less hardcore Valorant players, the concept of a Breeze is… a big map. Looooong sightlines, the kind of an environment sniper and operator players thrive on. Unless having fun carrying with a long-range who’s just won the game is your option, you’re mostly sneaking across open grounds just saying, “Just pick me, please.” A bit punishing to a bunch of playstyles.

About that tunnel… Worst. Death. Trap. Ever. Probably the reference is about the mid-area that feels like a death trap if the enemy team controls it. One wrong move and your done.

It’s kinda nice though because every map has its haters, doesn’t it? Some say they hate Icebox; some simply can’t stand Fracture. But that Twitter thread felt unanimous. It’s literally not just one or two people with an opinion; pretty much every single person who replied said either one way or another: “Good ri-damn-dance.”

Probably Riot sitting down with these feedback reports nodding along in agreement. They’ve been pretty sincere about acting upon the community’s feedback renovations and rotations. Remember when they did Split? They didn’t just patch it, they actually removed it and then reintroduced it: now. Maybe they’ll do the same with Breeze. You know, axe their sniper paradise… to make it fairer for all types of engagements.

What’s humorous is that the original tweet gave no sort of explanation. It just said, “do you miss Breeze?” and showed a picture. The question of what the tweet meant never entered anyone’s minds-the crowd already had a strong opinion about it. Now, that’s how you know a map has… a reputation.

I will say that maybe some people out there actually like the Breeze. Every map has its defenders. In this thread, defenders are sure not speaking! It’s like they saw the responses and just said, “Nope.” Can’t really blame them though; when the mob speaks this loud, sometimes it’s best to just stand back and watch.

Map preference is super subjective at the end of the day. What is hated by a group of players is loved by another. However, judging by the overwhelming majority, those who replied are indicating that Breeze should seriously be worked on before ever returning back in the rotation. Or maybe just keep away forever, if we must believe them.

The park right now is an ‘abomination.’ New maps are entering while the existing ones are getting constant changes, consequently changing the meta every now and then. Maybe in six months, everyone will actually be begging for Breeze to be returned. But, judging by today’s reactions? No way.

So there you are. If you ever had a question about how the Valorant community would feel about the Breeze being out of rotation… there you go. They’re not just celebrating it; they’re rejoicing over it. Sometimes a silent treatment can say so much.
