A huge one has been teased by Ubisoft for the upcoming expansion of Assassin’s Creed Shadows named Claws of Awaji, and players have gone wild stating the possibilities. On the Consoles of Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft posed a single question that set the entire community in a frenzy: “What will happen in the Claws of Awaji expansion? Share your guess!” Boy, did they ever.

So, the trending theory is Naoe finally meeting with her mother Tsuyu. Brandon Brindle, an established member of the AC community, said simply, “Naōe obviously finds her mother, Tsuyu. But Tsuyu will also teach her daughter about the Assassins, the Creed, and its history.” Solid enough, right? Then Tommy Hale entered in with the plot twist of the century: “Naoe meets her Mother, but it is revealed her mother is the leader of the faction hunting her down.” Daaanmn, that would be wild.

But wait, things are going to go further. Player IV had a hot take about “There wont be assassins there wont be templars there wont be modern day and the story will be pretty much pointless to the story, and Naoe will find her mother too.” Which is like, okay, negative Nancy much? But then Gonzo just roasted the game without even playing it: “I can’t tell you what will happen about the story but I can tell you how bad the cutscenes will be animated and I haven’t even played it yet.” Harsh dude, harsh.

Sure, all this mother-daughter reunion is the central theory that everyone seems to vibe upon; Elvira said, “I hope we meet Naoe’s mom and hopefully we see some First Civilization lore?” which would be sick. Demi Gabriel said maybe, “Naoe and Tsuyu will finally meet, Junjiro being a few years older, Hattori Hanzo” and hopefully “this time Naoe is officially an Assassin.” Should be, right? After all that?

Then it went weird, with Zeeshan saying, “They meet Jin Sakai,” which is like bro, Ghost of Tsushima, totally wrong game. Meanwhile, someone stated, “They will find Yasuke an assassin outfit!” Which actually makes sense, seeing as he’s a samurai and all. And PoisonX7 requested to get William Adams to show up and maybe have allies playable with unique skills? That would be amazing, for sure.

The expansion is called Claws of Awaji, right? So Loki Jarson took that quite literally: “You will actually get a pair of claw-like Cestus gloves.” Which would, indeed, tie in with the claws in the title. Then RisingTron asked the more important question: “will we get more decorations for the hideout” because, priorities people.

There was a little bit of drama: Zeeshan replied to Brandon’s comment about Atsu from the previous games and Brandon just shut him down with a “0/10 ragebait.” A community beef is always entertaining, honestly.

What is interesting is just how many individuals are speculating about where the story will be headed. Ghostwriter260 thinks “Naoe’s mother belongs to the new faction, but she is only a prisoner because she has spread out to help those she blackmails,” which is extremely specific but could be legit. And Andrew just bluntly stated, “Someone will die,” which, well, it’s Assassin’s Creed, so probably yes.

When the hype went real, TheRealZephryss and assassindark891 would be like, “Cannot Wait!!!” with fire emojis and all. So, after Shadows base game, this new content set in feudal Japan is basically what players demand. Setting is absolutely perfect for Assassin’s Creed.

That’s why we know Ubisoft for starting topic conversation among its people. Just one simple question and the theories just ran wild, some do make sense, while some do not at all, but it is entertaining. If half of these theories come to fruition, Claws of Awaji is shaping down to be something remarkable.

Personally, I am expecting mother and daughter reunion with the big interesting twist; some First Civ lore; and definitely, those claw weapons are to decorate to. No release date so far, but with all the hype, it can’t be that far. Shadows offered an amazing experience, and this DLC would put it over. I am definitely looking forward to knowing what really happens when the claws are called out.
