So yeah, absolutely, the internet went crazy. Shinobi602 appeared to have dropped the very first official sighting of Doctor Doom in “Avengers: Doomsday,” and gamers and Marvel fanatics are collectively losing their minds.

Looks like Doom wearing the full mask, cape and everything, regal in his presence. The villain whom we have all been waiting to see done right on the big screen. Done right meaning NOT like the previous Fantastic Four versions that we will NOT be naming here. The costume design was fairly close to what was seen in the comics, so the players online were lauding it.

Let me say that, in terms of the internet, there will rarely ever be one thousand percent souls. So the costume is already starting to be picked apart by some online players. One individual by the name of Rannie stated, and I quote, “I dont know about that torso section, the rest looks pretty sick.” So fair enough. There is talk about the chainmail adorning his arms too. Might be Chris (Man Who Games) speculated, “probably to give the actor more flexibility while in the costume is my guess.”

The biggest question: Will he keep the mask on? Multiple comments are already tracking that problem. NeroJB predicted straight-up: “He will have that mask on for approximately 10% of his screen time or less.” And GTAVIVICE took the opposite tack, saying: “Completely fake because Robert Downey Jr will not be wearing the mask in the movie Doomsday.” Wait, what? Robert Downey Jr? Which is beyond strange, but ok.

Meanwhile, others are just here to vibe with the situation. Dylan Cash declared, “I want him to step on me,” and Rednew added, “He looks sick, omg,” a statement that pretty much captured the mood of many reactions.

After almost all superhero films try to “modernize” classic looks into something about as recognizable as a Picasso, the mask comes as a relief for being true to the comic. Wandering commented on this, “…the mask is pretty comic accurate which is great….I hope they commit to the look and don’t immediately take Doom’s mask off”.

There are even questions about Voice: RapidReacts cries out for “the iconic voice now,” while Prince Yakub wonders aloud what that sounds like, sardonically, to which RapidReacts responds with a video example.

Spacecatv just said, “I do not believe its that good,” while Ted Cooper claimed, “Looks nothing like him,” which… Did they even see the comics because this looks pretty spot on?

The infamous comparison with Fortnite is underway, of course. “Looks like the Fortnite skin,” Sean Ellsworth noticed, which is true on some level. However, the Fortnite skin was already comic-worthy, so-.

The stunning thing is just so many people are asking such basic questions about the character, showing you how not everyone really is a hardcore Marvel comics reader. DT7__ asked “Physically he has a normal human size? I don’t know anything about it I’ve never read the comics but I like his design.” Several people answered him, affirming that he is in fact human. Well, human-ish. You get what I mean.

On the whole, though, there is positivity toward it. Ass4ssIn exclaims “Oh he looking good 👌,” while Muddy Verity added, “He looks amazing ngl,” accompanied with some fire emojis because of course.

But what everyone is really asking is… When do we get to see him in action? And is he going to actually wear that mask for more than five minutes? Given Marvel’s recent history with masked characters, it’s safe to say that players are very much justified to be skeptical.

Still, this first look has only added fuel to the fired-up hype. The design looks slick, the reactions are majorly optimistic, and, well, everyone is talking about it; exactly what happens when you introduce one of Marvel’s biggest villains into the MCU proper.

Now we just have to wait to see if the actual movie lives up to all of that hype. And whether Doom will actually, you know, keep his mask on for more than one scene too. Here’s hoping Marvel doesn’t screw this up again. Because we’ve all been waiting for a proper Doctor Doom on screen for, like, ever. And this actually looks hopeful for once.

Anyway, that is the big reveal that has everyone talking. Do you feel good about the design? Reach out on social media and let us know if you are excited or worried about this version of Doom. Personally, I am cautiously optimistic, but we shall see how it works out when Avengers: Doomsday finally hits theaters. Whenever that may be.
