So it really is? After playing a bit of Fortnite lately, some strange feeling perhaps would have come upon you when dropping in. Maybe it is simply just another funny skin, or a change on the map. Well, four new weapons? This gave Epic Games an excuse to break all conventions one more time.

All of which were revealed by the most reliable leaker perhaps, ShiinaBR. ShiinaBR announced this update on her Twitter account with just a simple, yet exciting announcement: “NEW WEAPONS ADDED TO BATTLE ROYALE,” followed by the listing of the MK-Seven Rifle, the Spire Rifle, the Holo Twister Rifle, and the Frenzy Auto Shotgun. That’s it really. There was no fancy big event; just… go, wipe your opponents out in new ways.

That is a heavy update for the current meta. Players have been kind of complaining about weapon choices for some good amount of time. Either it’s getting boring or some guns are outright trash. Epic must have been listening, so they decided to throw in something fresh and chaotic. So yeah, chaos is what they got.

Still, mixed at best barely describes the reaction from the community. Because that is when their passion rushes out. Some players are losing their minds; Karpy called it “One of the best lootpools of all time,” which is, of course, huge praise. FoxJinxs only continued the hype with a gorgeously loud: “YESSSS THE AUTO SHOT GUN IS BACK LETS GO!” Some are really pumped.

Now, this is the flip side. Not everyone is happy about it. JcAlphaFN gave stern criticism on the Frenzy Auto shotgun, calling it “terrible” and insisted that it be “kept vault(ed).” Ouch. Just2red didn’t mince words, saying, “Another bad weapons added.” So it’s not a unifying victory. Some consider it rehashing weapons, hopefully to inject life back into the player base, as argued by RobSimms17.

Now breaking down the new tools of destruction? The MK-Seven Rifle. If you recall it from early seasons, this thing was a laser. It was accurate, had a solid fire rate, and was just a reliable workhorse of an AR. The Spire Rifle, however, is more interestingly interwoven. It has a weird vibe, sort of like that old mythic energy from days of yore. It certainly isn’t your average assault rifle.

The Holo Twister Rifle is back; players could not be any happier about it. User linusknight expressed gratitude to ShiinaBR specifically for the Holo, saying, “the fury and oxr AR are both trash,” so it’s indeed a welcome replacement. And Lazarus Wolf simply expressed, “Love the Halo Twister,” so it’s undeniable they have fans.

The thing that’s been causing the most debates would be the Frenzy Auto Shotgun. Imagine this: an automatic shotgun. Just hold that trigger down and pray. ProshV1 is just jigging around with delight, flinging ninja emojis. And then immediately, we enter into the firestorm debate all along the replies: Does it replace the Tinyfirehooten or not? Was it nerfed? CuisCopper claims it was; it replaced the Tinyfire, which they described as “the shotgun equivalent to the Primal Pistol” – well, that’s considered a not-so-great thing to say.

What everyone wants to know, especially among competitive players, is if these new guns are in the comp modes. User aligatorfn1 just outright asked, “is it on comp?” That’s a huge deal because the competitive loot pool is generally so much more curated and balanced. Throwing a full-auto shotgun into a tournament could go off the rails very quickly. The replies suggest maybe Battle Royale but not comp, but no one seems 100% sure just yet, so keep a close eye on that.
