A huge community update is coming to Assassin’s Creed Shadows today, the 11th of September at 14:00 UTC, which will feature an additional level cap increase, hideout upgrades, time fast-forward, and new projects rewards themed around Ezio. The expected time for the update to drop was at noon, but a follow-up tweet announced a two-hour delay.

So, what exactly is this?? The level cap increase means that players who have reached max level can finally grind some more in terms of endgame content, which is a huge opportunity for most instances. Hideout upgrades give you more options to spruce up your bases, a feature beloved from back in Origins days. But the real game-changer is fast forward time of day. Seriously? How was this not in the game? The stealth crowd has been begging for this fast forward to night time opportunity from day one; mission approach is about to change forever.

And then there’s the Ezio stuff. Oh man, Ezio Auditore da Firenze in feudal Japan?? That’s some crazy crossover energy right there. These project rewards that are Ezio-themed must mean some gorgeous Renaissance weapons in a game set in 16th century Japan, which is… interesting… on its own. But hey, it’s Ezio – nobody’s going to complain.

And the community response, so far… shall we say slightly mixed? Some of the fans are crazy excited. The time forward thing is a game-changer, in ido_VP’s words, while WBteamz is pretty sure it will change how the stealth runs are done forever.” OlgaBaikova looks to “defog the map and save data fragments for the new project.”

Then there arose another chorus of dissent, with “How was this not an option from the start?” from TSLstudio-which is actually a very well-argued dissent. Then there is the hate: Mixatli saying, “We don’t care. Yotei is almost here. Just focus on Hexe and get it right this time.” Oof. That hurt. brOKen21764 got even harsher out there calling the game a flop based on view-to-like ratios which is just vile.

There are more technical issues as well-Sylvia hall hopes for PS5 controller fixes on PC, and franchisefanat2 wonders if it “will still be a stuttering mess.” Since the performance problems have been present since launch, so meanwhile, let’s hope it’s able to clear some of it up.

Retail physical guys are also inconvenienced-why_gt8 is yet to find it in stock on Amazon Europe for PS5. And then there’s the whole Gamepass thing: AlanHowlett360 thinks Shadows shall be on Gamepass some day since the last few Acs went, whereas StaticIsTheBest had just told someone to “say ur poor 🤣”, which is… take.

Still desiring more legacy content-JamieBe45754919 asked for Altair and Shao Jun outfits next, while TheChrisReject is aching for a return to modern day story arcs with Shaun and Rebecca. Nostalgia is certainly strong.

Jesus Camacho is excited about the Ezio gear but scared of the level cap increase because they have already beaten New game+ and will probably have to go through a third run. Now, that’s dedication.

The update notes can be found on the Ubisoft patch notes link, meaning players can look at every fix before the update actually jumps into the game. With the time changed from 12 to 2 PM UTC, make sure you check the patch then if you plan on jumping right in.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been regularly receiving updates since launch, which is great to see on Ubisoft’s part. The game suffered a bit of a rocky start with some performance issues and a mixed reception from critics, but these consistent drops in content project Ubisoft’s interest to support it into the far future. The Ezio content is interesting from a nostalgic standpoint and simultaneously keeps the game fresh with new mechanics.

If you’ve been sneaking around in stealth every day since launch or maybe if you haven’t touched it since, this update should be a worthy contender for you. Skipping time should be loved by many who actually used to wait for night cycles but got too frustrated to continue, and that’s a big plus with new Ezio gear. The level cap increase gives the end-level players something to grind for, and the hideout upgrades are an excellent way to add to that.

When the update drops, to see if maybe it’ll be the one to win back some dissenters or give current players enough reasons to keep sneaking around feudal Japan.
