Focus Entertainment posted a sentimental tweet remembering the release of Space Marine 2 last September. I also felt a very sentimental tinge coming from them, if you ask me. Well, that does make sense; from the looks of it, this might be their biggest hit ever. The company is calling it a love letter to the Warhammer 40k universe and its players. And that really is heavy stuff.

So basically, the tweet communicates the company feeling sentimental about how far Space Marine 2 has journeyed in evolution, and now hoping the players share their excitement for the Year 2 content. The black heart emoji has me thinking that they are deadly serious.

Now talking about entrances, the community feedback just emitted radioactive energy. Dax Liberty said he only started playing this month and Space Marine 2 has already become his Game of the Year for 2025. That’s high praise! Beaulieuboy3 is so hyped he already bought the Year 2 bundle on Amazon. The content is not even out yet! People just decided to throw money at it.

Jorin Evers is a very peculiar kind of true defense. According to him, he bought the PS5 a year and a half before the game dropped just for Space Marine 2. Seriously! That is some real dedication. He says the new update with the power axe is “so incredibly awesome,” which instantly makes me want to spend some time with it.

Some people are moaning about troubles, though. GrimResolve40k complains that bots on the Operation missions are utterly useless at higher difficulty. He’s wicked, begging for bots to be fixed, to get Stratagem missions into a playable state. Then Snake, who says the modifier Stratagem modes are somehow also launching him into the air and body-slamming him. That sounds rather brutal and hilarious.

Easter egg hunters are having spastic episodes as well. MossadSux thanks for “Death Guard” loyalist relic pistol and Atlantian Spears chapter, apparently Duncan “two thin coats” Rhodes’ own chapter?? I’ve got no clue what that means, but it sure sounds handsome.

Much bigger suggestions. LahLahMan82 reckons that if they coordinate cross-promotion with all other 40k releases like Dawn of War 4 and the Astartes 2 series (both coming in 2026), they will very easily be able to sell 10 million copies in 2-3 years. These are, of course, huge numbers.

Then some are already calling for the next round of content. S1yAsura01 wants the Tyranids to be a playable faction; elbethium wants a Guardsmen game like this; and SithKnight0 and Wafl3 hope for Chaplains in Space Marine 3?? People are already thinking about the next game!

With a bit of criticism thrown in, Sanguinius (which is ironically named) says the game was trash and repetitive with shockingly bad dialogue. However, Hamou_adamus immediately fired back with “You don’t deserve your name,” and well…ouch.

True international love comes next. Cuper replied, “Por el Emperador!!!” (meaning “For the Emperor!!!” with a salute emoji). And the worldwide 40k community is showing up.

Some want to know about platform availability. M1AHM2OU3D wants it on GOG Galaxy store, Thierry Manuel is asking about a PS4 version, and Impulse0420 says it doesn’t look good on the base PS5. So, technical concerns are peppered with all laudations.

The really interesting part is how many people say Space Marine 2 was their very first introduction into Warhammer 40k. Ed_Press states that he cannot believe the fact that Saber had managed to make a sequel to the game that got him into the franchise, and SithKnight0 comments that it’s how he got into Warhammer 40k and into watching Helsreach on YouTube. That’s major-strong gateway status.

Being very fond of this game is wild. Daniel Ricardo says that it’s literally the best game on his birthday, and LadyTitus40k is hyped for Year 2 content. They call the game out as truly wonderful, tagging it with a blue heart and muscle emoji.

This is a clear indication that Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive gave birth to something special. When the developers are referring to it as their love letter to the franchise, and the community, together with their valid criticisms, speak overwhelmingly positively, the status of Space Marine 2 is far beyond that of just any game release.

With second-year content already rolling in their plans, one might say they are in it for the long haul. With all player speculation floating around surrounding Space Marine 3 and cross-promotion with other 40k media soon to be released, it looks like we see only the tip of the iceberg.

Indeed, For the Emperor. This game looks like it did capture that Warhammer 40k feel, and hard, in words that could resonate with the veteran fan as well as those just now being introduced to the franchise. A subtle mix of visceral combat, iconic deep lore references, and smooth ongoing support would melt their hearts.

Anyway, if you’ll excuse me, I need to check out all this power axe hype. Looks like the latest update really came through very well.
