Just a little bit of news from Treyarch about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and right away, let us talk about our Vault Edition skin that made everyone talk. They actually went ahead and altered the T.E.D.D Operator design according to the player feedback. I mean, that in itself is remarkable; surely, when was the last time they actually took anybody’s feedback into consideration apart from a game-breaking bug?
The original was obviously so bad that reactions from all over the net ranged in every direction. Some would say, “Thank god they didn’t use the Ai generated one,” which makes you even wonder what the first version looked like. Others were confused, wondering if it’s better now or if “they only changed the face”. So it seems to be a minor change-if it is at all-which means that it’s fine for some change.
So why are they all bothered about changing skins while the game still pulls various big ones? It was nicely put, “Only the CoD community would give feedback on a fucking retarded ass skin. When the games anti-cheat and matchmaking are horrendous.” And they are not wrong. I mean, never a day has passed that the store has had an issue, has it? It works fine while the game does not. Such is fashion nowadays.
Right now, all some players want to do is just simply rage. Some comments like, “I’m passing on BO7 wait for modern warfare,” or “still not changing my mind still preordering bf6” show that not everyone is hyped for another Black Ops. Then suddenly, you get into the debate regarding how grounded the game feels. “Does this look grounded to anyone? What is the point of not carrying forward skins from past games if the deluxe edition skins are goofy as well?” That is a valid question. If the argument so far has been to nix legacy content for realism purposes, then maybe don’t kick off with a robot operator.
And we have the missing robot… Hence: A known concept. “How about this? Make a new design? I don’t give a fuck about the same damn robot every black ops??” So maybe Treyarch has run out of steam and is clutching at what they know instead of trying something new.
They were just frustrated. Another player says, “They will do anything except fix matchmaking,” and that has been the story of CoD these past few years. It’s always about cosmetics and store items while gameplay problems at the core are brushed aside. Then someone referred to it as “Fortcall of Doodienight,” which is kind of funny but kind of true. The more the game runs off wacky skins, the less of an identity it has.
But there are some for it. Those who thought it looks better, with reactions such as, “That looks so much better” and “Way better than before.” So maybe some parts of the community actually favor the changes. Still, bigger problems are calling for attention before anything so trivial.
Also, that pre-order situation cannot be left out. We have that one gamer calling them out for being ironic: “No skins will carry over to bo7 to keep the image of our game” proceeds to put a fucking robot as a preorder.” You just can’t make this up. It is like trying to eat cake and have it too, but everybody sees through it.
At the end of the day, it is just one skin. It’s not going to make or break the game for more than a few people. But the fact that Treyarch feels it’s worth making changes because of feedback is definitely a very tiny step in the right direction. Maybe next time they’ll directly focus on feedback for anti-cheat or matchmaking. But till then, enjoy that slightly less ugly robot in the Vault Edition.
And that’s the scoop on Black Ops 7 right now. So maybe, whether or not you are hyped for it or already planning to skip it, the T.E.D.D Operator will at least be a lesser visual assault. Maybe. We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out in-game. But honestly, who’s going to care about skins if the game goes south? Priorities, people.
