An insane clip caught public view courtesy of PlayStation, with everyone talking about it: a kind of fever-dream for a discerning many. The official Twitter account buoyed the post with a thumbs-up emoji and “another great week of gaming,” and the video had all players scrambling to figure out just what game they were watching. Spoiler alert: It’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and it’s already looking pretty nuts.
The clip shows a gigantic beast that looks deformed, with wings, and people are drooling trying to figure out what exactly they’re witnessing. Another person quickly saved the day saying, “Epic scene from Death Stranding 2,” although those very people made the opposite inquiry, “What video game is it?” Because, honestly, Kojima’s stuff always looked as though it were from a parallel dimension.
Tyler Outland went on to say, “one of the best video game sequels I’ve ever experienced and played,” and said something considering the first one was already a masterpiece of weirdness. However, not everyone was immediately on board – one player admitted, “I couldn’t get past 12 or so hours of the first still worth playing?” and then is a reasonable answer since Death Stranding isn’t for everyone with its delivery simulator gameplay.
The conversation took a turn for a moment in helping each other figure out what they were viewing. Grok chimed in to clarify, “That’s a scene from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, featuring a boss fight with a giant BT creature” because apparently, we needed the AI to explain Kojima’s madness now. Again and again, all over, users would correct other users thinking it might be Metal Gear or Fallout related – nope, pure Kojima magic here.
There were some priceless reactions. Midnight_503 straight out said, “This confirms Kojima is in drugs,” which… yeah, that tracks honestly. We’ve never seen a creative figure reach without boundaries, and sometimes, it really does feel like he’s operating on a whole other plane of existence. Another user said, “Next-Gen Skibidi Toilet?” which honestly might not be that far off from whatever nightmare fuel Kojima is cooking.
While nearly all seemed to agree on hype, SoundwaveXP said, “I hope this game wins GOTY,” and honestly, with visuals like that, it might just have a shot. The original Death Stranding was a technical marvel on its own, and this sequel seems to be taking it that much further. The giant BT creature looks downright terrifying in the best way possible-almost in such a manner in which you might consider putting the controller away for a while to just process what you’re seeing.
The positive reactions were not without a limit-there were those who voiced concerns too. RafaSCCP, without warning, mentioned localization issues: “We want localized prices in Brazil, just like all your competitors do! STOP ROBBING FROM BRAZILIANS” – a very fair point that often seems to get drowned out in the hype though. Voidstarphoenix then jumped into the fray demanding, “Boo! Give us Bloodborne Remake on PC and PS5/PS5 Pro,” because apparently, nice things aren’t considered so nice unless paired up with a demand for additional nice things.
The clip seems to capture aerial combat against a huge winged creature- one user described it as “sky high while playing it,” which sounds about right for Kojima. The scale feels so huge that God of War’s biggest bosses will seem tiny.
One interesting thing: many people weren’t quite sure if it was Death Stranding 2. The aesthetic very much was Kojima – a fantastic blend of sci-fi and body horror perfected practically throughout the years by him – but it feels even more outlandish than the first. The wings of that creature look partially mechanical, partially organic, all nightmare fuel. So it didn’t take long for everybody to suspect it could be Armored Core.
The very thing pertaining to the community here is so player-identifying a game for each other, exchanging excitement, arguing whether the first game was worth pushing through. It is this shameful sense of confusion and wonder that make such gaming moments so epic. When something looks so off-the-wall that it takes a crowdsource just to understand what you’re looking at? That’s top-level Kojima.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is fast becoming yet another crazy brain-melting experience from Hideo Kojima and company. Assuming this boss fight is any indication, we’re set to journey again through another insane world he’s conjured up this time. Awe, confusion, ingression, and excitement in equal shares sum this one up-no one else pulls off what Kojima does; yet, nobody else manages to draw such novel responses like his games. Truly another week in gaming, indeed, and here’s to the next round of insanity Kojima may splash all over us.
