Huge news Capcom just announced for Monster Hunter Wilds players™ – this one might change how we hunt forever. The official Monster Hunter Twitter account dropped Guild Report 27, detailing about the huge changes coming with Title Update 3 regarding Support Hunters, expected by the end of September 2025, with the players already going bonkers.

It gives a straight buff to the base attack and defense of the Support Hunters. But wait, it goes even further. There’s more buff to the Support Hunters’ base stats when they participate in the hardest 8★ and 9★ missions. The AI hunters are going to become giant beasts, the hardest monsters in the game.

That was not even the bigger news. Another Support Hunter called “Kai” was going to be introduced; he is a Hunting Horn specialist. You know, the weapon everybody likes but hardly anybody actually uses? So now, we shall have a dedicated dooter buffing us joyfully.

And the backlash has been…mixed. Some players are legitimately excited about the Hunting Horn support. ThatBeardedGuy tweeted, “Hunter horn support hunter? I guess they’ll be coming with me every time now!” and honestly? I agree, free buffs without having to learn the weapon? Count me in.

Others just aren’t onboard. Sgerbwd y Gwyn voiced some concern, saying, “as cool as a hunting horn support hunter is, i feel like it devalues real hunting horn players 🙁 it always feels special loading into a hunt with a bard – they’re so rare and precious.” That’s a great point if you ask me. Hunting Horn mains are almost like unicorns in the Monster Hunter community, and having that AI version takes some shine off of those rarely occurring moments.

On the other side of the coin, there is the big question of the difficulty. Ambition went on, “What’s the point of Monster Hunter at this point? You really don’t want any monster to be able to kill you? Support hunters (now buffing them) giga strongs palicos… now it’s 7:2.5. Not even close.” Okay, dramatic much? I mean, though, I totally get the point- Some wanted the pure one-on-one monster versus hunter experience.

Then we had some other people requesting some other kind of fix. Serizawa demanded, “FIX THE GAME ON PC !!!!”, fair enough probably. Khoriandre gave a more detailed complaint about Seikret pathfinding: “Are you ever gonna fix the pathfinding for tracking monsters with Seikret? Maybe a line of code that lets them know where a monster will go? As it stands it is quite tiring to have the Seikret change directions 4 times.”

Probably the most hilarious one comes from ExiledDungeonMaster, stating outright: “Okay next update REMOVE ROSSO! Mister ‘Oh, your better than that’ the prick!” They went on to add, in another reply, “I WANT HIM GONE” with crying emoji. Someone has some majorly burned beef with poor Rosso.

Capcom teams have stated that they will listen to players and institute further changes. On which gamers definitely have something to say. From monster petitions (someone wants Frontier legendary monsters added) to QoL improvements (linking ammo and radial menus to loadouts) the community has their say.

What is interesting is how this continues strengthening active companion systems that Sunbreak started. It puts a really large new piece into the mix-weapon-specific Support Hunters. That obviously opens the door quite wide for other upcoming updates devoted to other weapon specialists. Maybe we’ll get a Great Sword one that can really lay down some big charged hits, or perhaps a Bow one too.

The update is still very much in the distant future – the end of September 2025 is more than a year away. So Capcom has a lot of time to consider mounting changes according to player feedback. And judging by the reactions so far, there won’t be any spare.

Personally? I am extremely excited to finally have a Hunting Horn pal following me around. This weapon was always one of those things which is fantastic to have on your team, but it requires a lot of practice to be able to play it properly. Now I’ll let that AI take care of the buffs while I focus on beating the monster – well, sounds pretty cool to me.

But, the other way concerns me; it becomes very easy. It’s fascinating, traditionally, that a really tough monster is overcome mostly through skill without bringing in a bunch of AI corners to help. Maybe implement an option to turn Support Hunters off for anyone who wants classic Monster Hunter.

At the end of the day, it is nice about seeing Capcom still support Monster Hunter Wilds with bigger and meaningful updates. This kind of big addition is recognized as a huge lifetime for a community of over a long time after the game has been on the market. If some PC-related issues could be sorted out…and maybe toss up those Frontier monsters the community is begging for…

Well, now, 2025’ll be right there; thus, till then, happy hunting, and try not to pick on Rosso that much. Honestly, the guy’s trying to do good.
