NetEase finally released the official roadmap for Season 4.0 of Marvel Rivals and there’s hot debate about the new content. The biggest announcement? Angela, your divine Asgardian warrior, enters battle on September 12. Maintenance would start at 9 A.M. UTC; the servers would then remain down for almost two or three hours, so do NOT plan on playing during that window. They will announce again on X when the servers are back up, so keep your eyes peeled.

The reason players aren’t really thinking of Angela is because of all the new stuff that the teaser roadmap has pushed through: characters, arcade modes, costumes, maps, and honestly, it’s going to be insane. The reception from the community has been… a mixed bag, but mostly hype. Some players have been into that newly revealed Hela skin. Player Crow literally said, “That Hela skin Gawd damn she SLAYING,” so honestly, mood. Then StrangeVamp1 joined the conversation by saying, “nah i NEEEEED that Hela skin, wtf she’s so elegantttt!! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š” — The fashion game’s strong this season.

Then again, some aren’t pleased. Some players complain about skin choices. GloryOne pointed out, “Another hela costume lolzโ€ฆ after this she should be good though because her costumes definitely been lackluster so im happy hela players get some love,” which, granted, means… finally, Hela mains getting some attention, I guess? Then Cash Emfinger replied to someone else, “Yeah all of her skins are too similar imo,” so there’s really no pleasing the crowd.

Everyone also talked about the Emma Frost skin. _zaelito observed: “Emma finally having a good hair cut!!!” Well, sure. Hair truly means a lot in superhero games. And HisEmmaFrost (appropriately named) demanded, “GIVE US” with a link, so, you know, she’s serious about her main.

But it gets gnarly here: a few players are just not feeling this season. Johnath02673805 basically said, “this is kinda ass ngl. these skins are so unserious. No one asked for Angela dawg,” which is… harsh. Then there is Aria Alpha whose birthday is, like, September 12, and sheโ€™s all, โ€œMy Birthday is already off to a fabulous start~ Lady Hela and UltEmma will be lovely acquisitions to add to my favorites ๐Ÿ˜โ€ so, clearly, itโ€™s pretty split between the community.

The real witching hour value belongs to the Requests & Complaints. Players are begging for a wider range of stack options — KebabKing pleaded: “Please let me 4 – 6 stack with friends again, please. If it makes us lose more than win with whatever system you implement that’s okay, I just wanna play with my friend group and not have one person always sitting out :(” Basically, mood. Play with your friends shouldn’t be this much of a hassle.

There is the whole debate on character roles and balancing teams. Are they arguing if Daredevil should heal (??) with VTuberASMRFan saying, “No. Daredevil is a ninja. DPS all the way,” while others seriously suggested: make him punch the other players to heal them? That would be hilarious. And someone reminded everyone that Hulk isn’t getting skinnaires yet again — crankingnuts69 posted the crying face emoji and said, “Another season of no hulk skins.” Looks like the big green guy is getting snubbed yet again.

And then there are robot skins, very much appreciated by JPXFRTnameson: “2 robot skins? I used to pray for times like this. It’s really weird that we barely got any in the Ultron season.” That’s a win for mechanized fashion indeed.

The neat thing is how players are already going into minutiae. MikeMeltzGG wants answers to “Who’s the 5th accessory for? ๐Ÿ‘€” because apparently there’s some mystery about the roadmap image. And MSherpiny is demanding that Reed’s emote with Herbie should be a loop rather than just a one-time action. It’s… specific, but it’s valid.

The overall feel is that Season 4.0 will bring tons of content, but the community is more split on whether this is the right content. Some want serious skins; the others are all about the silly, fun summer outfits (even if Jedah_78 is questioning, “Why is The Thing getting another summer swimsuit skin?” — fair question, honestly). There are character requests: Sue Storm and Mantis, with lmeloninu flatly declaring, “Sue and mantis is all i need.”

Server maintenance is always a pain but necessary, and they seem at least transparent about the downtime. 2-3 hours isn’t too bad compared to some other games, and they’re promising to keep everybody updated on X once the servers are back. This certainly gives a lot of anticipation chance on September 12, especially with the summer vibes slowly fading away.

Marvel Rivals is growing in its content with every season, and Season 4.0 might seriously be one of their biggest updates. Between the new heroes, modes, and cosmetic goodies, there is no shortage of things to keep the community busy. The excitement, be it mixed reactions or not, is definitely real for a majority of the community. Now it’s just waiting for the 12th to come around and test these players’ reactions to actual gameplay. Should be crazy.
