Ever since Diablo IV was announced, the community has had a constant stream of questions that Blizzard hasn’t addressed yet. They are curious about seasonal mechanics, lair bosses, and so many other topics that have been “screaming” to be answered for months. With an anticipated crunch, the Blizzard team teamed up with streamer Bluddshed to relax and produce a video called “Answers to Your Burning Questions.” The title is a bit less fitting for Blizzard, as with everything Blizzard does, it blindly floats towards the drama. The hot take? The Bluddshed drop doesn’t sit well with the community—which, to be honest, isn’t a surprise.
Naturally, the first and ‘biggest’ topic of discussion was the one no one really had on their list: LOOT FILTERS. Finally? Rob2628 casually tweeted: “Loot filter?! 👀 YES PLEASE! Also more Stash Space 🤞.” And honestly, that might be the most relatable tweet in the history of Diablo, because trying to find anything hiding beneath a billion shelled rares that are all garbage is the real endgame boss of every ARPG. Loatheburger, somewhat verbally synced in, tweeted back saying, “Did I hear loot filters 😍,” which, same dude, same. Then KaiserAcedia came in with the hot take “Rigt now auto salvage would be better.” which, okay fair point. Why not both? Blizz pls.
Now let’s get into the stash. Bobby Espina hopes that the “please fix the stash” issue will be overlooked, but the issue is, well, everything. The stash is a universal pain point to manage. JD even joked with Rob2628 asking, “Which will come first: Diablo 5 or stash tabs in D4?👀” which is funny but also deeply saddening because it very much feels true. Managing your inventory shouldn’t take longer than battling Uber Lilith.
As for Lilith, Cliptis mentioned the question, “No way Lilith is a villain. Am I right?”, and…is she? The story is messy, and the community is split, but that’s a whole separate debate.
The positivity from the community is quite sparse. Weeshr thought the entire thing was “completely staged” and that “all the topics were rehearsed.” Mbottdk agreed and said the speaker “got a gun to his head behind the cam,” which is an amazing typo but still awful. The community is very toxic, and they constantly reference a previous dev stream where the devs couldn’t answer even the simplest questions about their own game. ChaosandEnvy questioned why the new dev stream is happening instead of Campfire Chats. Community manager PezRadar responded and said they are “reworking dev streams to a new format” for Season 10. So, it sounds like something is in store.
As I’ve said, no one in the community has commented on the rest of the content. Now everyone is curious about the new class. “It’s the only thing even remotely interesting,” Krom said, and asked if it’s Paladin or something like it. I’d also say it’s the same with me. Everyone just wants to wait for it; the class fantasy is a huge pull.
Questions were left by Jake Gardner Sr. and Ereboros. Jake inquires “Switch 2 release?” which is strange since we don’t even know if the console exists. What should’ve been the only question gets dropped by Ereboros, and he asks the community, “Why does the guy in the blue shirt have knockers?” I mean… seriously, show some priorities.
Some players retain a hint of optimism, even with the community in disarray. Malphas and Witch Tides recall AcediaKaiser’s enthusiasm about the roadmap by saying, “So let’s cook.” On the other hand, Joe is plainly like, “Can’t wait for s10!” which is, honestly, relatable. Despite the bad year Blizzard has had, the company is evolving following its long silence.
Everything else is still frustrating. Eze Xeneize’s simple, but good, question, “Why did it take more than 3 years for a loot filter?” stands out. Then, going into full doom mode, Lcfr Enosferum asked, “when are you gonna kill the game already?” accusing them of paying influencers for the hype. Oof.
With the above taken into account, there’s no question that Diablo IV players care. With concern to features, they complain, ask, and meme. While the devs’ interaction with the community is an improvement, the community is demanding results over explanations. The community is demanding the loot filter, stash space, new class, and less lag; JayBC90 asked to “fix the random daily lag please,” which as I said, is a whole mood to empathize with.
So yes, the questions were answered, but unlike most questions, what is anticipated is not more questions but action. With so many people requesting Season 10 now, expectations are definitely on Blizzard to deliver on time. While the community is definitely waiting, the hype level is subdued.
