Today’s no Man’s Sky update is fresh and as always, the players are eager to get into it and a new park explores the update. The dreams, wishlists, hopes, update, tears, hope, the chaos that Hello Games is always filled with, and the master update No Man’s Sky has are all being accepted with open arms and every emotion listeners have is being felt. From the Hello Games No Man’s Sky official account tweeting, “New Expedition is now LIVE 🥳,” which is accompanied by a single link, the updates are being embraced.

Much like every other presentation to updated features of a game of this magnitude, every single time this tweet was posted, the community would go absolutely crazy. You can safely expect there to be an equal amount of issues to go along with each update of a game of this magnitude. However, the issues are minimal and the drama that does surround it takes the angle of ‘who doesn’t have it yet’. There is a large portion of the player base witnessing their screens and feeling “where have I been?”

Yes, the Nintendo Switch 2 version. Either that is the one everyone is ignoring or the enormous space anomaly in the room. While the other consoles and PC enjoy the new content, the players with the Switch 2 remain sidelined. Version 6.0 of the update is still missing from the eShop, and to say the least the users are getting a bit concerned.

One user, Ivana, responds: “CRYING IN SWITCH 2!!! @NintendoAmerica GIVE US THE UPDATE”. The frustration is, of course, genuine. Another user, Sage_Rainz, expressed their frustration to Sean Murray himself: “Sean, stop ignoring the people who have bought the game solely to play on switch 2 for its convenience. Please say something🙏🏼”. From the context of the entire conversation, you purchase a game with the assumption that the platform you are purchasing it for will be convenient to your lifestyle, and you have to watch as everyone else is having an incredible time while you are missing out. It’s simply not okay.

It’s deeper than mere FOMO. The delay, in addition to FOMO, makes some problems easier to identify logistically. User te6192 mentioned another fairly concerning problem: “Cross-save doesn’t work either I don’t think right now while the versions are different.” So, if you primarily save on Switch 2, you are locked out of trying to access it on the updated PC or PS5. The entire progress is essentially in limbo. For a game that is based heavily on continuation, and making an incredible universe, this is a colossal issue.

There is a mixed wall of responses of complete enthusiasm and despair. On one side is Corey’s Gaming Hub, who already has plans for after work: “I know what I’m doing after work today”. On the other side, Solirae on Twitch shows gratitude and mentions how, “this was just what I needed after crying my eyes out from finishing Clair Obscur. Thank you so much, you’re the best! 🥳🎉” A huge range of emotions from a single game, going from tears to happiness.

Next, we have the usual, well-known, expedition participant, Logan_The_Nord, announcing, “Gonna actually complete an expedition for the first time since the worm one.” So, the motivation is obvious, and the minute men definitely are eager to action: “Let’s go! Get the ships ready men!!! We have solor systems to plunder!!!!” (left the misspell for authenticity, standard, love it).

Over and again, much of these jovial comments have a few that are filled with some form of technical difficulty. Shelbos reported, “Can’t connect to the server. Basically stuck in offline mode.” At the same time, H4ydenTenno had a truly frightening encounter on the PS5, “The game is dead on PS5. It’s now showing only black screen.” Oof. And of course, a black screen on any release is never a good sign. Let’s hope it’s rare and not the case for most.

Adding to the mayhem, there was a bit of global flavour. A Brazilian player, ethyios, responded to someone in Portuguese saying, “Esta patch is top, now you can store the parts in that workshop inventory in the space stations.” So, at least some good news regarding the new inventory management features for those who can play!

Switch 2 users churn out the most burning question, in terms of time. How deep are they left behind? User dexatransbordar suggested, “At least they can extend expedition period to give more time for us.” Which actually sounds like a proper solution. Expeditions are timed, and with a late start, there is a high chance you might not be able to complete it. An extension would be a small gesture worth appreciating.

Then there is the reckless, and hilarious confusion. Out of left field, Flippinmations asked: “What happened to glados?” I am sorry sir, but in No Man’s Sky expedition, there is no update that includes a portal to the Aperture Science universe.

While the new No Man’s Sky expedition provides an excuse to celebrate, immerse yourself in the infinite, the update and the expedition which came as a cocoon to switch is a reason to stuck in cross-save hell along with the community. We wait in hopes that the update comes to Switch 2, and in case the ‘Hello’ games considers the extension to the expedition timer, the warm wish is to explore the stars, without leaving their pals behind.
