Hey, everyone, get this. The guys over at Focus Entertainment have just sent a message like: “Here, I know you were waiting for it.” Space Marine 2 update will finally go live tomorrow at 1 PM UTC. The community is already on fire — check the comments for a cocktail of glee and simmering anger.

What’s on the menu? Sure, there’s a bell emoji with a time stamp from their “official” tweet, but the real summary comes from the players. The comments are practically an open letter of everything wrong with the game and a wish list begging for all of it to be fixed.

Let’s address the elephant in the room: performance. This, without a doubt, is the biggest problem at hand. Optimization, particularly on consoles, is becoming an increasing concern with everyone pleading for the same. For instance, @ElGreko79 put it more bluntly by requesting “1440p 60fps on consoles,” which, by the way, is a perfectly legitimate demand for any modern game. And to add insult to injury, the PC players aren’t having a good time either. As @CaptPilotes pointed out, horde mode performance was “awful“ the last time they tried it. So no, it’s not a win for either side.

Let’s move over to those nagging connection problems. From @Olltura’s “EVERY SINGLE MISSION disconnection and no it’s not my internet” it’s obvious both they and a whole bunch of other people are dealing with way too many disconnects. And if word on the street is true, the game doesn’t even properly return you to the title screen after being disconnected. What year is it?

Some of the community is genuinely excited. Thanks to @LadyTitus40k, we know someone is happy because she has a day off tomorrow to “play all day,” because nothing says excitement like crying and a blue heart emoji. Also, @KingIronfoot is looking forward to the power axe and hoping it brings something new even if it doesn’t fit their Templar aesthetic, unlike the power sword.

Where was I? Oh yeah, the new content. Apparently, there is a Mutalith Vortex Beast coming? That’s some chaos spawn nightmare fuel that @Bifur_hunter was very confused about, asking “I’m sorry that f is that thing” which personally, I am just as confused. And the power axe brothers are celebrating according to @Ghostri51264281 who screamed “POWER AXE BROTHERS!!!!!!!” in all caps because sometimes enthusiasm requires no punctuation.

The oblivion to the content is because the time zone confusion stands out. It all starts when @CMValrak asked, “What’s this in real time?” which then ignited a whole thread of people converting UTC to their local times. For some it’s 9 am, for others it’s 2 pm, and it’s 7 am MT for someone else. Time zones are insane.

The PvP situation is the real tea. @Hollowip707 went ballistic on how there’s “no pvp leaderboards no way to create a clan and battle it out with other clans nothing to grind for!!” Seems a bit dramatic to call that the reason the game’s “dead!!!” but agreeing with their anger is not the worst idea.

Of course, the gaming community lacks virtue and is impatient. That’s why @winsomepumpkin received the “just release it now” comment. @ThisIsHowWeDo1t for their part is very happy for the update as it comes as their birthday present. Enjoy your gift, man!

Every player is hoping that the update for the anniversary of Space Marine 2 will bring back the players and resolve the issues they are facing. This, along with new weapons, connection improvements, and, hopefully, those PvP features that people are begging for, would be amazing. At the very least, we do hope Focus Entertainment has been listening to the feedback and the update does focus on the issues the players are having.
