Take laughter in. Insomniac Games publishes a joke like: ‘Have you heard? Insomniac Games gets its name due to the video games we develop. Crazy, isn’t it?’ I do not utter a word in response, but I do debate with myself in silence, ‘No way. I believe that my mind is broken for an instant. Is it true that Insomniac Games produces video games? Is the term “games” actually part of their name? That is extraordinary.’

In my opinion, the preceding tweets, and even the one before that, betrays the very origin of the problem. It’s as if every gamer in the nation picked one place to shriek at the top of their lungs in one drop of the comment group. A few people continue to demand the Spider-Man 2 DLC while others are shouting ‘Update Wolverine!’. To add to that, there’s a ‘Ports begging’ battle royal between the Xbox and PlayStation contenders! It’s complete chaos and I adore every moment of it.

A person like, @MTro64, insists on operating in the role of Insomniac authority and casually noms a comment, ‘I’m acquainted with your days-long collection of works.’ He even proceeds to enumerate from the classic Spyro trilogy to Sunset Overdrive. Then the same account claims, ‘Now let me test you,’ and I genuinely contemplate, what kind of test? Do we have an Insomniac trivia game? If we do, then I think that’s cooler than it should be. Not going to lie.

Then we have this @Vacuous35 account saying, “Somehow this is teasing their next Marvel game (I’m delusional)” and honestly? Me too because we all are delusional hoping for the Marvel game news from Insomniac. Any update on Wolverine would be greatly appreciated. The fandom is in desperate need of updates.

The port begging conversations are complete chaos. There’s this one thread where Xbox users ask for Spider-Man ports and the PlayStation users respond with aggressive roasting. One of the replies from @AcePengu1n55 vindicated with ”It’s not happening so sell your xbox and buy a ps5.” Unforgiving. Absolutely unforgiving. But also kind of true, for once.

The amount of people believing the tweet is the funniest part. Like @didyouknowgamin responded to the original post with “Interesting theory. Source?” which is an immaculate case of trolling. Then @Cantbe4nothing1 responded with “Mmm proof. When’s the last time you made a videogame?” Like woah! Coming in hot with the accusations!

The best part is many are using this to bother Insomniac for game updates. @SynthTechnic said “Where’s spider-man 2 dlc insomniac” with a crying emoji and honestly? Same. And if it rings a bell, @yaboivelvet unquestioningly said, “Don’t tweet unless it’s about wolverine ❤️” which is a reasonable and relatable vibe.

There is this bizarre mention of Helldivers 2 in the replies which like…what does that have to do with anything? People are just throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. Console wars, port begging, game requests – it’s all happening in this one tweet’s replies.

What’s actually worth noting is how one tweet has conjured discussion on Insomiac’s legacy. People are bringing up titles I forgot like Resistance and Song of the Deep. It’s like revisiting memeory lane while appreciating the demands of modern generation titles.

Then there is this @GinaRamirez who states “Nobody liked the second season” out of the blue which makes me think, what second season? Of what? The confusion is real with this one. Maybe she’s referencing a TV show? Who knows at this point.

This all just emphasizes how gamers feel strongly about Insomniac’s work. The tweet is clearly a joke, but instead of drifting away, people take the chance to state their desires for the studio. More Spider-man content, Wolverine updates, or some other hidden gems from their back catalog.

It’s also nice to see the amount of support for their older titles. There are people publicly requesting HD remasters for titles I didn’t know existed. That’s the strength of a developer with a good name—people remember your work decades later.

To be honest, the funniest part might be this huge group of people missing the joke. The tweet is obviously a joke, but there are people asking for proof and sources, like… guys, it’s a joke! It’s from a game developer’s official social media account. They’re just having fun!

But that’s also why gaming Twitter is hilarious sometime. You never know when a tweet made in jest will spark a huge conversation about console exclusivities, whining for ports, and begging for new content. It’s a mess but it’s our mess.

After all, it’s the small things like this that make me appreciate this developer. I mean even if it’s just a dumb tweet that spawns a million conversations. It shows you these guys care about what the gamers want and what they’re currently talking about.

And maybe, just maybe all this noise about their older titles will motivate them to scour their back catalog in hopes of unearthing a few surprises. A man can dream, right? Anyway, back to refreshing my Twitter feed for some real Wolverine updates…
