So yeah, the super huge Fortnite and One-Punch Man collab everyone was absolutely certain was to drop this weekend? Not happening. We first got reports from the usual leaker channels, and the community’s reaction was… screaming-crying emoji all over Twitter. It’s really killing spirits for all those who kept their V-Bucks ready, probably about to knock some opponents out as Saitama.

The initial tweet from somebody reliable was just… pain. “OPM x FORTNITE IS NOT DROPPING THIS WEEKEND 😭”. That single emoji goes a long way in telling how the fringes of the Fortnite population feels at this moment. Into the replies follow full-on messes of rage, confusion, or pure desperation. Heard one player, @itsthebenjo, screaming into the void, “WHY ARE WE STILL HERE!?!? JUST TO SUFFER?!!??!” which is pretty much the mood. Then @katon_mp4 decided to add more pressure with a meme captioned, “But i want it NOW‼️”. That impatience is real fam.

Of course, with disappointment comes blaming. Blame is being laid upon the leakers, which is totally against @Kaylee_WRLD’s perspective, “Idk why ppl get mad at the leakers the moment something they say doesn’t happen, a lot of the time things a scheduled for a certain date and the teasers epic was giving pointed towards it dropping on Sunday but things change last minute.” That is, in fact, a good point. The leakers get their info from data within game files, but Epic could go and change all that at the very last minute. The leakers aren’t gonna trick us.

But all this doesn’t even lessen the frustration. @FujiwaraTD continued: “I blame you, screw you hypex,” placing blame directly on the source. And the whole affair is making some players question even the general viability of Epic’s collaboration choices. @Frankydandan asked, “Why does Fortnite choose to collab with these types of anime when others like One piece, jjba, and demon slayer would literally print money for them.” Makes sense! Although, to be fair, One Punch Man is massively popular and would definitely print tons of cash themselves, which is probably why they’re even trying to put it in.”

And the delay is also screwing out a lot of cash from the players. Apparently, @MFTFGames got to the V-Bucks he was saving for skins from this collab anyway, and @Exonis_0 called him out: “Why’d you spend them if you were saving them for OPM?”. That’s tough, Jesus. Now he either has to buy more, or just keep his fingers crossed that the collab gets delayed again so he can hoard V-Bucks a while longer. Meanwhile, some players are trying to find the silver lining: “I mean we don’t rly care. The goat of anime is already in the game,” tweeted @demonicquills, presumably referring to that existing Naruto or Dragon Ball content. @ClockWorkzZERO was in a whole other camp, tweeting, “Lol! Here I’m still waiting for the Solo Leveling collab that was leaked some time ago”. Waiting in Fortnite territory is definitely a bitter waltz.

The comments got weird after, as they always do. Sporadic insults broke out between perhaps three or four users, completely unrelated to Fortnite nor anime collabs. Just the internet being its weird self, I guess. One individual went as far as to theorize a reason for the delay, with @MolentroL remarking, “It’s because of the special event on August 21-24 OPM The hero.” Could be! Perhaps Epic is trying to align the in-game event alongside a real-world promo. That would be very logical, but doesn’t give any form of consolation to those who expected it to be released this weekend.

So where does this leave us? Well, basically hanging in that limbo. This One Punch Man Fortnite collaboration is happening to the fullest; the files are in the game, the hype is real. But this is just not happening right now. Some may call this as just another splendid example of Epic leaving their stuff until the last minute and plating their rival reputation unlike Naomi Osaka or those other Fortnite drops. So, in a way, it shouldn’t be too much of a shock. Now it means that players will have to tough it out, cling to those V-Bucks, and try in every way not to spend them on some unexpected buy from the item shop whenever tempting offers come along. It will come sometime sooner, and then all punches are coming down. Until then, the community is going to have to wear a smile through the delay. Copium is deeply inhaled on Twitter tonight, that’s for sure. Welcome to the cliffhanger!
