Everybody chill for a brief moment! It’s HAPPENING! Really for once. Team Cherry dropped the mother of all bombs at the Game Awards with the trailer spilling so much that there almost was a full-on reveal of the specific release date: September 4th, 2024. I mean, c’mon, mark the date in your calendar. Set an alarm even. Do anything because this is not a drill.
After what seemed like a million years of waiting, making memes, and endless “Is it coming out already?” posts, we finally get an actual announcement. Online: total chaos-the best kind with people going berserk and honestly-so am I. The Game Awards just tweeted a “It’s real” alongside the trailer and date, and the replies section is overflowing with excitement, disbelief, and joy.
“I never thought I’d see the day,” one player announced, and that was pretty much the general mood among all of us. Another one chipped in with “meu Deus, é real,” Portuguese for “my God, it’s real,” which is basically the spirit of the world. A guy who just found out about the first game last month stated, “thank God I didn’t have to wait”-lucky, really.
There, however, seems one player who is a little dubious. “I’ll believe it when I buy it,” she said. Fair after all this time, right? Wait…just joking on that one. Two more days for the “we need more time again” announcement, maybe? But uh…look at the trailer; I hope that ended the doubters.”
Though it just begs the question: “How much longer is this hype going to last?” It’s pretty much becoming “Gamehouse of the Year 2025,” with the hashtag #silksong2025, which is hilarious. One gamer says, “September 4 is gonna be a magical day for Gaming. No more clown costumes.” Roughly translates to “We can finally retire those.”
Another thing from these responses is that people appreciate indie devs. “That is why I love indie games: they put so much love and effort into their game they actually care about players and not just filling their pockets with money,” one gamer said, giving a shoutout to Team Cherry. And honestly, that is one hundred percent true. There is a whole other level of passion on these projects.
Aside from the above, there is an enormous number of people now using the logo to finally get around to beating the first one. “Time to lock in and beat the first one,” replied one person, and, honestly, I second that. We need all the time we can get to practice those insane fast nail skills before September.
The memes! One says “POV: how Tenma Maemi feels right now” with a video attached, and the next one goes “The Silk Piece is real,” a reference to One Piece. One would expect that this community’s creativity, which has been choked for so long, would be out of this world.
To that, add pure excitement expressed in many other languages: “HOJE É O SEGUNDO DIA MAIS FELIZ DA MINHA VIDA,” which in Portuguese means, “TODAY IS THE SECOND HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE.” And just about every one of us is feeling that vibe right now.
There is a plan already in place: “I get a new hole in one week, and game of the century the following week. Pretty good summer, IMO.” Priorities, really.
Yet after the delays and several speculations following that radio silence, Hollow Knight Silksong is finally coming to us. September 4th. It has been a long journey, but the wait is almost over. The trailer looks incredible, the gameplay looks like it’s going to build on every single good thing that made the first one, and Hornet finally gets to shine.
So yeah, clear your calendars early in September because we’re diving right back into that beautiful yet haunting world that Team Cherry has created. This time though, we’re doing it as Hornet. No more clowns, no more waiting, just loads of wonderful gaming. Finally.
