Bungie has rolled out a new shining carrot for Destiny 2 players, but from the view of the community, the situation is as pretty rusty as the Tower during the post-Cabal invasion days. The official Destiny Twitter account made this cryptic post “Time will heal, not erase,” instructing to get the Solemn Remembrance hand cannon from Competitive Crucible. But instead of hype in the comments, all replies were from people complaining about broken stuff and demanding fixes.

But what’s the story behind this gun? Basically, you finish your placement matches in Competitive to claim the Solemn Remembrance. Being a hand cannon, this weapon hits the popular Destiny meta, especially with PvP. But in recent times, players simply do not want to enter Comp. For good reasons too.

The replies for the tweet are basically a laundry list of issues and complaints. A player by the name of Hells simply demands, “FIX THE TRACKER” (all caps!), which… mmm-hmm! Another player y0gi3_ calling out the insane grind just to be competitive: “Play almost everyday after work doing being portal shit and im barely 337, and not a single t5 armor or drop. How tf do you expect me to go into comp and get shit on by T5 armor stats, that other players have, that clearly gives them the advantage? Dumbest armor/leveling system.”

Uh-oh. That’s a whole vibe right there. The power grind for Destiny 2 has always been a sore subject, but it appears the current system is more of a deterrent than an attractor for players. And the levels don’t seem to be the only concern. Going into the server issues are next. Dave Peterson replied, “Fix your servers! Mid master conquest got kicked and can’t rejoin!” That will make things awful, especially in top-tier content, as losing connection would definitely screw up your run.

Things out here for PC participants are grim. Ether: “Cool now please fix the stuttering and frame drop issues on pc at the very least acknowledge them :/”. The downg-trod army aka the PC master race is suffering. Then there’s matchmaking; Jerry Schoeffler ain’t having it: “Plan on fixing the matchmaking and lopsided team balance? Nah? Then stop asking people to play broken PvP”.

But wait, there’s more! Some players are asking about older content too. Bakedbeans wonders if the “barrow dyad mission” will come back because they missed it. Jacob has been trying to get the Microcosm weapon for over a year and says it’s “impossible” because nobody is running the mission anymore. That’s a definite feelsbad moment.

With all that chaos, some players are engaging with the content. Serrated Viper drops a screenshot of their roll, stating, “The grind to 450 is brutal but hope to get this roll at Tier 5 when I eventually hit 450.” Diffizzle simply said, “Got mine,” with a flex emoji. So, it’s not a complete downhill; some guardians are crushing it.

But the general feeling… well, it’s not very bright. Shadow Gaming55 goes off: “Most don’t care about this. I think most don’t want to grind light lvl as a second job. So many changes should be fixed or undone. It’s BS that our old gear was rerolled; stop sunsetting stuff we grinded for. On a personal note, I hope you lose your cars, Pete.” Yikes. That there is some blanket anger.

The armor system seems to be one of the pinpoint annoyances. Vipul Doshi reveals confusion about powering up past 400: “How do I power up now? I’m not getting any higher drops. I can get higher tier if I make it 50 levels and no starting ammo but that’s hell with the time limit.” It sounds like the endgame progression is confusing even for dedicated players.

Then comes the pure salt. Temperistic says “Nah I’ll go play something that actually takes skill,” and Light animously comments “Or I could just not play Destiny 2.” Ouch. When your player base is openly considering not playing your game, that’s probably a sign that something really has to change.

Though there are some constructive calls to action mixed in. Scott says, “How about balance pvp and add new maps,” which is a fair ask—the PvP map rotation has been stale for a while. Rev0lucien asks for the new comp emblem to be added. Arkturus425 says they’ll come back “when Warlocks can grapple with Prismatic.” Specific, but valid.

This leads the conversation to Cronus users on console, asking if they’re a problem (Chesse_cz says yes, they are). It’s a whole thing. Meanwhile, Charlie just wants to know what armor is shown in the tweet image. Priorities, I suppose.

Basically, Bungie is trying to put a new loot chase in front of players in the form of the Solemn Remembrance hand cannon. However, the community feedback looks more like begging that the current systems receive some love before thinking about adding new grind. Server stability, matchmaking, progression clarity—these are the things players have in their arms begging for. New weapon is cool and all, but how many will really deck soon if getting it is downright frustrating?

Destiny 2 right now feels untethered. Yet the game is still bringing big numbers, but this reply thread paints a very loud picture on frustration. Bungie has, almost without fail, listened to community feedback and made changes in the past, so hopefully at least they’re paying attention to this recent outburst. Because an extra hand cannon is good, but a working game would be better. Time might heal, but it won’t erase these issues if nothing is done about them.
