After being in the item shop for so many months, the players of Fortnite could not be more pleased with the return of this Marvel beauty. As though by magic, after months of waiting, that shiny-plexed cosmic Broadway figure has finally slipped into the store, and to be honest, this was really long overdue.
The deal stands that Silver Surfer is now an item shop rate. Also, with your first purchase on the web store and not in-game (all fine print stuff), you’ll also be rewarded with a FREE purchase. Just click that link, grab yourself a surfin’ Surfer, and choose an added item as well just for completing your purchase via the browser. Also, extra trick: use the code “Shiina,” and the funds will be gifted to the community member that leaked the news; how cool that Epic allowed that.
There is a lot more to it than just the story of the skin disappearing again. Players in the reply section are in uproar over what it does not come with in the shop! So where is Galactus? He’s been held back so long on wishlists that people don’t really know anymore. Someone even said there were files for Galactus back in Chapter 2, but he was never really implemented. Which is kind of strange, isn’t it? Like, why do they have the files and then never use them?
Wrapping: no wrapping for Silver Surfer, which is a wizardly crime in my humble opinion. How can they bless us with this op chrome skin and not give us a wrap that turns all our guns into cosmic surfboards? Fortnite is missing out on easy cheddar because everybody knows that wrap is a guaranteed sell.
Anyway, comments indicate there are plenty more requests being thrown about. Adamantium claws? Apparently, they’ve been missing for about 2 and a half years. Shaman, someone said, has been absent for six evasive years — which is just… wow. Then you have pleas for One Punch Man to make his comeback, then Hawkgirl, then Loki-the list practically never ends. People have serious wish lists being done on Fortnite.
And then some of these skins are in fact sold individually, but for some reason, their bundles never come back. Why on Earth would Fortnite even do that? Makes me think they want people to buy every single piece separately instead of getting a better deal with the bundles, which is kind of dirty if you think about it, but hey – that’s their business model, I guess.
Could we also talk about how some people think the skin has been out for a full year since it last appeared? Actually, somebody’s done the math, and it’s only been 308 days. A long time, but not quite a full 365. Though, when you are patiently waiting for a skin you really want, hey, every day feels like a year, so I understand their exaggerations.
The timing of this rescue also seems suspicious given that rumors say it’s going to be a big Marvel return to Fortnite. New Deadpool movie just hit the hype train, so it kind of makes sense for Epic to start cycling back this very famous Marvel skin into the rotation. If the rumors are true, then it’s just the beginning for Silver Surfer.
So that’s about the free item with web buys, and it’s really a genius move by Epic. They want to direct traffic toward their web store, instead of just the in-game shop, probably for tracking data or better injection to margin for web license sales. Either way, free stuff is free stuff, so can’t complain, really.
The promo code is quite interesting; support content creators directly through purchase codes that are becoming very commonplace in games. This is a way for leakers and streamers alike to get paid a little bit for all the work they’ve done in informing the community. ShiinaBR is one of the biggest Fortnite leakers there is, so it’s pretty cool players actually get to support them directly.
What’s next for Fortnite collaborations? The rumors indicate that there will be even more Marvel content in the very near future. Maybe even that Galactus skin everyone has been begging for. Or some DC characters like Hawkgirl, which people in the replies have been calling for. The collaborative game within Fortnite is ever-evolving.
which brings me to what must be said: The return of the Silver Surfer is great news for Marvel fans and those who collect Fortnite skins. It has been long overdue and so long ago that it’s pretty much a hot item for all those who could ever get it when they had the chance. Who knows when its next disappearance is going to take place? Another year until Norrin Radd can step back into the item shop would very well be the answer.
So, if you have been sitting for this shiny cosmic guy, now would be the right moment. Just remember to get it from the web store and get that second item free, enter in code Shiina if you want to support the leaker community, and fingers crossed for Galactus in the near future. The Fortnite item shop rotation is full of surprises, sometimes bringing back cherished items and sometimes stubbornly refusing to do so.
