Although the 2.4.0 PTR for Diablo 4 was recently launched by Blizzard, the chaos has been raining already. Players now have the scope to dive in and find out what lies next for the ARPG scene. The official Diablo account had posted a teaser saying something along the lines of, “Chaos beckons. Will you answer the call?” alongside all the patch notes, and lets just say the replies are something else.
So the PTR is in place, essentially allowing everyone to sit back and enjoy what goodies, balance changes, and features Blizzard is working on before they all hit the main game. Getting ahead of the meta for the new season means a lot to the hardcore bunch. But the community is not really convinced; mixed reactions to be read.
Some players are just flat-out excited. Fellow Chase said, “Hope all goes well for the PTR. Can’t wait for the new season. Thanks for improving what already is such an amazing game!” Good vibes there. Then it countered PikaBoy with, “2 years and you keep fail at deliver us. VOH was a joke that felt like a season of quests and now nothing for gamescom This is massive hype killer and for sure it makes us pass on the next season.” Yikes! VOH is likely Vessel of Hatred, and yeah, some folks feel it was not up to their expectations.
Then there is the whole thing about the Paladin. Oh, boy. Summary from Master Cheese: “2 years POST release: No Paladin No Diablo But hey, your diversity hires are through the roof.” Which is… a take. But that is not the only one. Lot of replies are requesting the Paladin class as well. The user Therg00d asked about it (Therg00d’s reply isn’t in the data, but we see responses to them), and Carlos Emiro says, “They gonna make you pay $60 for an expansion so you can play the paladin class…” Chase disagrees (probably a different Chase) and says, “They’re not gonna “make” us pay for anything. If someone pays for something they want, it’s ultimately worth the price to them.” So that’s a whole debate right there.
But players are offering the more useful feedback. Dragontree requested update for items: “Please update items, most “general uniques” should be for below 60, they just suck too much, and we need new revamp 60+ uniques and mythics.” Good about items. Loot is all that defines these games. Abraham Swenson wants more goblins and mythical quests: “Please institute mythical quests. One mythic per season per player. Guaranteed if you complete the quest for the mythic you are seeking. Grinding for goblins is as much or more fun than grinding for levels. More goblins please!!!!” That dude really really liked goblins.
Mmmh, but then chaos is not for everyone. Anthony Germino said: “Pass…they get free testing and still make the game bad,” with that mood being very well set. Whereas BaldGuyRandy went with: “Oh wow, more powers!!! I’m so excited to get into th…. PASS.” Savage. Some of those guys are DONE.
Now some questions start to arise. Guada971 asked, “Why 30fps on PS5 pro… It’s optimised ps5pro on the pstore page..” That’s excellent, at least from the console players’ point of view. And then Crypt0Ca1n wants to make it available for Steam users: “Make it available for Steam users. We have to link our accounts to battlenet so why Are we not able to access the PTR from the battlenet client?” That’s a fair question.
Some people are also asking about Gamescom. Dani’s strongest soldier just said, “Anything for gamescom?” and DaBrownBull tagged some devs asking, “will you guys be at Gamescom??” So, might be seeing more announcements.
It is pretty crazy how divided the Diablo community is right now. Some players are extremely grateful for every bit of new content and are so excited to test it. On the other hand, there are people deep in their frustration over updates that took way too long and lack of certain features, like the Paladin class. And then there’s the whole expansion pricing debate, which leaves Blizzard somewhat stuck between a rock and a hard place.
The PTR is an opportunity to collect feedback and implement certain changes before the patch hits live for everyone. For all Diablo 4 players out there, now will be the perfect time to jump onto the test realm and check out all the new features. Witness the chaos they unleashed and maybe grab something like new powers or items that can change your current build. Or maybe it will just fuel your annoyance even more. Either way, it is happening. 2.4.0 PTR is a fact, and Diablo feels about it. As always.
