As the new season rolls out, it has been a mad rush for everyone to catch the Summer Games; those who looked forward to Lúcio Ball since the beginning. Literally go ahead and flake on all those “whens,” for the reactions are pure chaos.
First of all, the official Overwatch Twitter account tweeted: “Jump back into Lúcio Ball when Summer Games returns in Season 18!” The reply bombs began right after. A few were feverishly happy and confused, while most were in it for the memes: Classic Overwatch crowd.
@Happigenjifan went the full caps lock and wrote: “YESS YESS YES SUMMER SUMMER YYEYSYSYS PLEASE MORE SUMMER SKINS AND COSMETICS ILL BUY THEM,” same energy as if a McDonald’s ice-cream machine actually was working. And then came the legendary “YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES, I MISSED IT SO MUCH” from @tea_arttt, accompanied with GIFs probably breaking Twitter servers. Those vibes? Immaculate.
However, confetti is not everywhere. You should hear: “Summer almost over babes,” from @Treyliking, and honestly, fair. It is already August. Pumpkin-spiced lattes are ready to take over. @DSmash19 said: “Hmmm I think summer is pretty much over but okay,” and, yeah, Blizzard arrives for the party when everyone is already drunk along with the drunkards.
So, Lúcio Ball sworn: “COPÀ LUCIOBALL WHEN????????????” in all-caps and complete urgency via @ReshiRed_, followed by @AvRageYo with another variant of “Copa Lucioball when? 🥺” as if it weren’t happening. Hold your horses, fellas. It is coming.
Repeated, like a D.Va bomb: “@ThatRedThing30: More lifeguard skins? Mermaid skins? Please 😭,” then @cmarc057 popped into the replies with, “Wuyang mythic skin please 👉👈.” And @KevadoX? Just straight fantasy: “Pool Floaty Reinhardt… 🥵 Or evennnnn…. One Piece collaboration Whitebeard Reinhardt….?” Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
Unmissed are the other skeptics. @Unknown00468 entered with, “No way people enjoy summer games 💀,” and honestly? Fair, not everyone’s into sports-themed chaos. And shade was thrown by @trabucooo1, saying: “They missed the summer season to rererererelase the summer event? They clearly had no intention to release it.” Oof.
So what’s up with Summer Games this late? That’s a good question. Probably, Blizzard’s still running on Australian time where it’s still summer. Or maybe they just love keeping us guessing. Either way, Lúcio Ball is back; molten-hot skins are supposedly in sight, and the drama? Delivered already.
