The programmers at Xbox wasted no time in dropping a surprise bomb on any gamer that got the hype. The Ninja Gaiden 4 is a good bet, with Xbox throwing out an equally awesome taster for all those trying to catch the Xbox gamescom broadcast on GTV on August 21st for the full wind. The tweet read, “A legacy’s about to be reborn and we’re so ready for it”. From here-the game community overtook any possibility of an elegant take purely out of excitement.
Anyhow, the hype. The original Xbox generation gamers of Ninja Gaiden were berserk. AJ, maybe better known as SuperSaiyan4, claimed bragging rights on beating the original without smashing the controller or the disc-well, that is an utterly legitimate brag, just so you know. Others like Gro3 called “rebirth of a classic,” while Eric Nofsinger just said that “it’s going to be epic.” Awesome energy, people!
Well, not just anyone hopped on the bandwagon. Some of the replies were less enthusiastic. HamSammich responded with some shade lyrics about Xbox “making it gay,” so… The other VERGIL seems convinced that not even the Xbox players will finish the game, stirring a mini-debate in the replies. Classic Twitter drama.
Some took the opportunity to call out for more games. Adventfire simply said, “The only legacy I’m waiting to see reborn is Fable. Where is it?” Well said, in truth. Then AlphaBlastX began screaming for Scalebound’s resurrection from its canceled state-the canceled Xbox exclusive that still haunts dreams to this day. Those are the Xbox fans for you.
At the same time, the true gems came from the GTA Online gang that managed to drag Ninja Gaiden into conversation about their favorite chaotic multiplayer. Los Santos Plug joked that if the fights from Ninja Gaiden 4 are even half as mellow as those in the GTA Online lobbies on a Friday night, then count them in. OnlyOnePacMan said that the original Ninja Gaiden made them rage harder than freemode griefing. That says a lot.
Then there was a typo in the original tweet-someone noticed Xbox had actually misspelled “@gamescom” which hey, big accounts mess up too. But, really, the message went through, and the countdown has well and truly started. August 21 cannot come soon enough for Ninja Gaiden fans.
What can we expect from this? By all accounts, history tells us that Ninja Gaiden 4 is probably going to be the same brutally fast action that made the original very much legendary. Time will tell whether the game lives up to the hype (or the rage), but one thing is for sure-the gamers are ready. Just by looking at replies, the wild conversation on the subject will be crazy. So, folks, buckle up.
