Fortnite has teased slyly about the future next Battle Pass unlock, and the players are splitting into two groups: some exploding with excitement and others with frustration. The official Fortnite Twitter account had a cryptic message telling players to “pause the vid to see your next BP unlock,” a link, and eyeball emojis to build suspense. But, as always, the replies ranged from hype to demands to sheer chaos.
For starters, the quintessential Fortnite tweet already attacks the user, vague enough for the public to chat about, yet pinpointed enough for everybody to scramble and decode it. Conceivably, the video (which obviously cannot be watched by ourselves) could be some glitzy fast-montage hiding an instant recognition glimpse of the next Battle Pass reward. Players pause frame by frame, dying to catch the glimpse while some enjoy the game; others… maybe not so much.
There are the very vocal complaints. GoodboyGhost143 snapped back about the ongoing server issues: “Seasons bin out for 10 days and you still won’t fix the lag and freezing problem with ur servers.” Oof. And it’s not like they are alone. ItsWinston followed with, “The movement with the medallion, fizz, and shockwaves is really broken in rank 😢.” Then BruceWalker1234 bellowed, “Yall just can’t help yourself can you? Putting freezing shotguns in the game so when I take damage I can’t move. Game is so full of cheesy bullshit.” Yikes.
Those begging for collabs and old features. perppie420 is a lone wolf: “bring back naruto to the shop.” FrogForFortnite has been pleading for the 409th day to add Tsuyu Asui from My Hero Academia. Then there’s cates_izaiah threatening to riot if Daphne, Velma, and Fred don’t join Scooby in the item shop: “I swear if YOU DONT ADD DAPHNE, VELMA AND FRED TO THAT SCOOBY COLLECTION ALONG WITH SHAGGY WE WILL RIOT!!!”
Players in the middle attempt to comprehend the mechanics of the Battle Pass this season. minerpig04 asked, “So ive already collected the unlocked battle pass stuff, if i keep leveling up do i just get the stuff i already would’ve got at lv 200 or do i have to continue after they unlock?” While OliverClozzof is about to go rogue on this meta: “This is finna be my least played season with all these fucking medallions I’m just going afk on XP maps at this point.”
Yet, they’re not all clicking from the players
What else is there? Other than the Drift, a super famous long time ago ago skin that is again entering the spotlight. They are literally begging Epic to release an unmasked variant of Riftreaver Drift. @Bolterrrr tweeted: “Please give an unmasked edit style for the ‘Riftreaver Drift’ outfit!” Along with a bunch of hashtags and a screenshot of the skin. Another player, @ArhenYT, even tagged Fortnite begging, “Epic pleease, we want to be able to see Drift’s face just like we could with OG Drift 😭.”
Of course, not everybody is happy about the game in its current state. Some players start bashing the battle pass, with @LeroyJe06637649 ruthlessly stating, “Current battle pass is trash.” Other players, like @DJJeffer814, called the update horrible: “As a weekend player, the update was terrible.” Ouch.
And then we have the whole auto-claim rewards debate, of course. Some players want the feature back with @pewpewduckevil tweeting, “Bring back auto claim.” At the same time, @Van_swtz claimed “@Fortnite returns with automatic reward unlock,” though who really knows whether that is just hopeful thinking or an actual leak.
Let’s not forget those Xbox players. @ChrisKnighttech pointed out, “Xbox delay is still running strong!” And @AnonLife17 vented about the Epic launcher issues on PC by saying, “Can’t even access the epic launcher on my PC 😢.”
Amid all the chaos, there are a few players still keeping their fingers crossed. @MrUnknown2465 wants the second wave of Squid Game skins, with an emphasis on requesting Thanos and Frontman (in Player 001 style, mind you!). And @NitesFN is itching to know if Blade of Champions will ever make his way to the item shop.
So what’s next for Fortnite? Will Epic listen to the outcry and bring back the old movement animations? Will Drift finally get his unmasked edit style? Or will players have to keep spamming tweets until something changes? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure—the Fortnite community isn’t afraid to speak up when they want something.
There all there is to do now is sit back in hopes that Epic makes an appearance. Maybe they’ll be the surprise that drops an update that at least covers some of these demands. Or they may just drop another collab skin and call it there. But the players are not going down without a fight for now.
