Some exhilarating Monster Hunter news just hit the community by Capcom. The Wounded Hollow finally grants shows presence of Rey Dau and Nu Udra to all treasure hunters HK 100+ hunters. However, above that and further, apex predators seem far more likely to rouse up when inclement weather is not active. And by the way, it was casually mentioned that the team is rocking the idea to bring Lagiacrus to Wounded Hollow! You heard it right. People are going bonkers for this.
Let us clear the air. Though Wounded Hollow has always been for the more hefty kinds of hunts, it is now fast becoming even more messed up. Rey Dau and Nu Udra are far from pushovers. So, if you have been grinding for HR 100+, take that heavy frying pain. Patronage of apex predators’ spawn rate increased immensely outside of inclement weather; now, that is some QoL for giants being asked to muzzle down the weather.
Now, onto the main headliner: Lagiacrus. That dinosaur-like monster that had firmly cemented its place in almost every Monster Hunter title has been missed sorely. Especially since they kicked the underwater combat mechanisms out in later-game titles. With Capcom teasing that they are working on its addition to the Wounded Hollow, the player base is going beserk with wild speculation. Will it be land-only? Can they pull off bringing back some form of aquatic combat? Or are they just dipping their toes in the water (pun intended) to gauge response for a more substantial comeback in later updates?
Community reactions have ranged. The positive ones went, along the lines of @ttv_bossy grumbling: Finally, something for 100+ HR, please add more stuff like this for those who have put in hundreds of hours into the game. Then there came the questioning side, with @EDWZoh_Shia: “Working to make Lagiacrus appear in the Wounded Hollow in the future.” ???? Just put Laggy treats there?? How does that need work? Classic Monster Hunter fans-not ever satisfied, always asking for more.
Then we have the other, who are actually tired of more fights with the same monsters. @NightBloomCross simply stated, Kinda tired of fighting apex, and @BUCKNUBE jumped in with a meme, Anybody tired of farming the same monsters over and over again. An honest statement. The best hunts become boring when you do them for the tenth time.
Those ushering in their lists of things to desire in the next update include @janejp3, who proposed adding 9-star variants of mid-tier monsters such as Rathalos and Doshoguma. On the other hand, @Capitantinick1 is screaming from every side, RATHALOS 9⭐️ PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Meanwhile, @fatpugbug took a different tack: Make 9 star quests of: ajarakan, the guardians, xu wu, doshoguma, ratholos, rathian, and nercylla. Yeah, because this game certainly does not have enough ways to get one-shot right now.
The tease of Lagiacrus gave rise to a brief debate on what the monster could even be mechanically capable of. @invisiblescrat wondered, Lagiacrus without water??? Weird, and that is a valid concern. Lagiacrus was legendary for its underwater battles, so seeing it on land might feel… off. But hey, if Capcom can make it work, we’re here for it.
Overall, this update is a big win for high-rank hunters who have been yearning for new challenges. The introduction of Rey Dau and Nu Udra into the Wounded Hollow, along with heightened species apexes, will keep the late game folks grinding. The Lagiacrus tease, though? It’s just the cherry on the cake. Whether it’s a hint at something huge or a fun one-off, it sure has everyone talking. Now, if Capcom could just stop wasting time and bring us that Lagiacrus update, that’d be great.
