What has been announced about the Battlefield 6 anti-cheat system has of course divided opinions on whether it will hold water. An interview of the team developing the shooter promised hope for the anti-cheat technology after witnessing it in action for a couple of days over a weekend.
“[Anti-Cheat] is top of mind for us, it’s super important,” the devs said. “We were really encouraged by what we saw, the system perform over the last weekend. Tons of effort.”
And… gamers…still don’t really want to buy it.
The tweet from CharlieINTEL stirred up a whole varying mixture of reactions from some hopeful players to others flat-out bashing the whole thing. One player, Marvin Kleiber, said: “I haven’t seen any suspicious activity in-game yet.” Conversely, Jacob Castro was on the other side of the argument, saying he saw three different matches with hackers pre-firing like crazy and topping the scoreboard.
And thus begins the drama on console versus PC—because, of course, there has to be drama. Alex, a console player, said that his experience had become worse after disabling crossplay. His solution: “We just need a ‘console-only crossplay’ option.” That was followed by the legendary hashtag: #FuckPC.
But the real kicker was the whole thing turning into a big comparison of Battlefield 6‘s anti-cheat to that of Call of Duty, and well, it’s just not in Battlefield 6’s favor. One comment reads, “Proceeds to have more cheaters than CoD now.” Ouch.
Then for the other half will be the people who are sick and tired of waiting. LUFC_81 simply states the sad truth: “If the cheating is bad, I will not be buying BF6 or BO7.” Can’t blame them, really.
So what will one see? Well, the devs seem confident of their anti-cheat; however, the players are still waiting to see if an anti-cheat really holds water when the game launches. Well, since a few are already getting impatient and asking CoD to teach them a thing or two, this turns into huge pressure on BF6.
One thing for sure: If really, really does work, then something changes with the entire game. And the movies will be epic if it doesn’t.
Oh, and someone actually said they were gonna preorder three copies of Black Ops 7 because of this news. No clue why, either.
