Bungie’s Summer Solstice Savings event is in full swing, and while those who truly desired the emblem are hyped up, the general population is having a big roast session. The red carpet? Buy anything from the Bungie Store before 9:59 AM PT on August 19th, and the player will get an additional Sunburst Destiny 2 emblem. Pretty exciting, huh? The response is a rageful fury of memery and, weirdly enough, some random complaints.
Talking about the event first. Bungie is pushing this promo that every purchase will get you a Sunburst emblem—basically looking cool, the cosmetic. The tweet is all sunshine and good vibes, but oh boy, the comments down here. The players want to express themselves with some honesty. Jackal 43 basically accused Bungie of scrimping on a Solstice shirt reward for the second year in a row. Like come on Bungie; where’s the drip? Then Neockwon questions whether shipping will be discounted- no one prefers to pay for slow shipping, right?
Then JMAN’s unbridled fury erupted when he got kicked from a Master solo run. The man posted a screenshot of an error message that read, “Bungie, fix your servers before you try selling me stuff.” Harsh but fair. Then Andy March said he uninstalled Destiny 2 after 18,000 hours (did you read that correctly?) because it just got too tedious to grind. Breakup tweet much?
But that is not all gloom and doom. Some are enjoying this very much. CyberFlash is “tempted.” Lunar_v2 joked that this was their “favorite Destiny 2 content right now,” and then Moore33Gaming aka Lord Charizard posed the big question, “Is it time for Destiny 3?” And there’s poor ProtsmanPanther who… well… said something personal that one really cannot share here.
The real call? The players are split. Some consider this little promo cute, while others want to drop bombs on Bungie for missing out—especially on physical rewards and discounted seasonal bundles (shoutout to Tinybot777 for that ask). And then there is an elephant in the room: The player base for Destiny 2 is evidently shrinking, new ones like Daniel Acklam are starting to call out store items as “overpriced shit.”
So the verdict? If there is any one item in the Bungie Store you have been eyeing, now would be the time to snag that Sunburst emblem. However, if you are holding out for bigger things—better rewards, fewer server issues, maybe even Destiny 3—hold on to those greenbacks. There is no way you can take away that Bungie has everyone chatting, and that is never a bad thing, unless of course, the topic of conversation is itchy balls. Then maybe it is time to go off the grid.
