Imagine the nostalgia bomb Nintendo Switch 2 dropped on all the gamers by announcing that the GameCube Chibi-Robo! will actually be in the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack lineup on the Nintendo Switch 2. The GameCube Chibi-Robo! Game was originally slated for an August 21 release so that players could either carry back the memories or have a fresh look at the weirdy cult classic. So much hype.

For those that missed it back in 2005, this game is about a tiny robot whose purpose is to bring joy into the Sanderson household: cleaning generally, managing family messes, and occasionally saving the world-if anybody needed it. It’s charming, weird, and just the kind of oddity Nintendo likes to bring back.

The announcement tweet by Nintendo of America sent ripples through the gaming industry, with the excitement, demands, and so much “what’s next?” energy flooding the replies. Some, like KevinJraps, called it an early birthday gift; others such as ChibiHuey, one of the very few artists left for Chibi-Robo, expressed hope that the re-release would garner new fans for the franchise: “I wish I could play it on Switch 2 but I don’t have it,” an indication that even some of the most ardent supporters are periodically left behind by hardware upgrades.

And it wasn’t even finished with celebrating yet. They seized the chance to beg for more classics. “Fire Emblem next pls,” begged Hestisdabest, followed by Beans715670 retorting, “Say hello to Metroid Prime 4 Beyond release date.” Then there are the Pokémon… sigh… “The Pokémon games are going to be last, aren’t they…” ToonRanger13 moaned. Oof.

Some players took this opportunity to make something of a case for more offbeat selections. Bismuth84 was interested in the infamous “C_Robo” title from the N64 app in Japan, while NowSquid was lobbying for Custom Robo and Battalion Wars. DionHaruno, on the other hand, simply declared, “We need Pokémon Colosseum.”

And what would a Nintendo announcement be without a bit of international flair? A voice in French piped up with the plea: “Laissez nous mettre les jeux en plein écran pitié” (let us have full-screen games, please). dan_chaos and Briuks fired back with “Ya ves jajaja” (See? Hahaha), because sometimes inside jokes just land better in another language.

Now, that was the first big one: This is no random drop. Nintendo has been slowly building their classic libraries up, and Chibi-Robo! fits right in the scheme of resurrecting neglected gems. If it is enough to keep folks satisfied who are still waiting for Metroid Prime 2 and 3 (looking at you, Inmaterial_girl), that is another question.

So, block the calendar for August 21. Whether you are a long-time fan or just a curious newbie, Chibi-Robo! is bringing some nice disorder onto Switch 2. Maybe this re-release is exactly what little guy needs to start making some waves.
