Update 1.021 for Monster Hunter Wilds by Capcom has been released as fans are just losing it. This patch seriously brings hard element with a 9★ monster, new talisman rewards, buffs and nerfs to weapons, and plenty of pain to be inflicted on the poor souls who, for a moment, thought they had this game all figured out. Eh well, not much love for it. Before the village gets burnt down in Rathalos-sized drama, let us get updated.

So let us get first about what is in the patch: basically, the big blip in the news update is bringing these 9★ hunts, Capcom’s way to saying, “Oh, you thought you were good at this game? Cute.” These hunts do not work in a joking manner: monsters hit harder, move faster, and are probably melting in laughter at your attempts to fail. More talismans for rewards were added, which should entice players to grind some more… Provided RNG will not screw anybody up. Then weapon amendments are next on the list as Capcom cannot sit still tweaking a meta every couple of weeks.

Now gets messy. Players are split on whether this update is a W or an L. Some, like twitter-user 1st_bro_ka_ge, are loving it: “Loving it so far,” was the tweet. Meanwhile, @Ok677677 just said “Adding 9 star monster just to grind for a few talismans is crazy,” then took off to play Armored Core 6. You cannot blame them; RNG grind ain’t for everyone.

As for the glitches? @BabylonianAUO straight-up accused the game of crashing during 9★ hunts and inquired whether Capcom was ever going to fix it or just ignore it like… whatever the last problem was. @ItsSundayKnight is convinced that talisman slots are bugged and said they have yet to see a single weapon-slot talisman drop. Yikes.

Then the major drama was still whether “Wilds” could be “dumbing down” the Monster Hunter experience. @AneeshMenon10 went full-on, saying removing the resource gathering (farming, mining, fishing) killed that “hunter sim” vibe and now monsters are “zero challenge.” Oof. Meanwhile, @kids_solid replied with, “I’ve put over 600 hours and am still having a great time,” so who’s to say? Probably both, depending on whom you ask.

Of course, as is tradition in Monster Hunter history, you will witness exchanges of insults mocking one another’s skill levels. @lite_mad, chuckling over all the Hunt Fails posted, said, “Time to see how many players have actual skill issues,” and then added, “I don’t give a fuck in the slightest” if you flex your completed hunts. Savage.

So that’s the update-their instance of bane for the good ones and for casuals to either accept or walk away from. So whether you want to rock to the new challenges or are already jaded, one thing is certain: those Wild hunts will be of Aldious-grade.

Grab your weapon, pray unto the desire sensor, and try not to cart too much. Or maybe just play something else until the next update is out. Either way, Happy Hunting—or not.
