Respawn Entertainment has issued some shiny new Apex Legends printable postcards for E-District, meanwhile a single thing being hotly discussed is a comeback for the nighttime map. Likewise, the official Apex Legends Twitter shared for the new community resources some daytime set of E-District postcards-a wholly unexpected reaction, really.
So, the devs fairly adorably whipped up some postcards and put them on the community page. But players? They can’t seem to get over the fact that E-District was originally this moody, neon-lit nighttime zone-now it’s just daylight. Honestly? The backlash has been hilarious.
Someone: “E-District should be DARK. Revert to ORIGINAL E DISTRICT.” Another: “Day E-District is nothing more than Storm Point with a city during the day… bring back night E-District.” Well, that hurt a bit. Even worse: “It’s ugly. Did you fire the person who turned the lights off in E-District? I’m going to assume so.”
But it’s more than just about looks. Purely by feel, many purists say that is precisely what the daytime variant takes away. I’m thinking “like Kings Canyon After Dark,” a favorite nighttime map that has been away for way too long. “E-District was gorgeous,” they said, “Then they took it away and tainted it.”
Not everyone, however, hated the change. There was a handful of players even appreciating Respawn Entertainment for changing the matchmaking, one saying, “Since sometime in the last season, I can finally play with my way lower-skilled friend and the lobbies have seemed to incorporate his skill into the matchmaking. He actually enjoys the game now.” So basically, small wins?
The real bulk of comments were begging for night E-District or throwing jabs at the game’s current position. “Battlefield: New Game. COD: New Guns. Fortnite: New Map. Apex: New Postcards 😭 😭 😭 🚮 🚮 🚮 ” joked one. Another outright demanded, “Fix your CANCER servers and refund me my RP NOW.”
Then we go into some fun random complaints-footssteps are still borked, ranked challenges reset, Maggie’s prestige skin colors look “like shit,” and could somebody get keyboard and mouse on consoles, please (Translated from French, because rage unites).
So yeah, Respawn thought it was doing the community a favor with these postcards. But Apexfest would have none of that. Will nighttime E-District ever come back? Who knows. But for sure, the players will never let this die anytime soon.
Meanwhile, the postcards are there on the community resources page for the set collectors. Just don’t expect cheer.
