The news just dropped thanks to CD Projekt Red – game Cyberpunk 2077: The Ultimate Edition will actually be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 at Gamescom 2025. The event goes from August 20 to 24, with the game demo likely to be launched at the Nintendo booth. Night City, but portable. Really!

It just threw the entire community into dimensions. Players are reacting in all ways: some are pumped up, some throw doubts on it, and some are wondering if more DLCs are to come. Adding to that, now the CDPR fan base is agitated, albeit somewhat amused, as @LeBlancLofiCafe added a humorous comment, saying that a statue will be erected outside their house if CDPR can get it to run at 60fps on Switch 2. Now, that’s dedication.

Then again, a large population remain unconvinced. @JVcountdown announced that Cyberpunk struggles to reach 60fps in Quality Mode on PS5, questioning how it could ever run smoothly on a handheld. @DaBubby_ however was singing quite another tune, saying that he had been behind bars while playing on Switch 2; to his view, the gunplay was fine, although micro frame drops and the driving sections was the matter. Oof, right?

Some others are looking for an update now: @GloomBlue100 calls out for support for native VR, @KH4LIDOU begs for a proper DLC or expansion in celebration of the game’s 5th anniversary, and @PauladaSoares just wants New Game+. Classic.

Some are showing their sorrow over being unable to make it. @dany_vinti lamented leaving Germany just days before the announcement was made, whereas @toxicTom overtly said there wasn’t any time. That’s just harsh. On the flip side, @x_syzzus is happy to be there to play Night City handheld-style.

Ultimate Edition-wise, the whole deal is still shrouded in mystery. Would it have all updates and Phantom Liberty? Would it finally present itself well? Nobody has a clue; there is one thing for sure: CDPR isn’t finished with Cyberpunk yet. Neither are the players.

So just ink it as your calendar, chooms! August 2025 is going to be insane times. And while making your way through Gamescom, you HAVE to make it a point to stop by the Nintendo booth. But don’t go blaming us if you just can’t put the game down while in Night City. Again.

By the way, @MetroidFREAK21 asked if there are going to be revision cartridges with update v2.3. That’s a good one. Maybe we’ll get to know sooner. Or maybe we’ll just have to wait. Either way, the hype train is departing already. All aboard.
