So, be sure to hang on tight because Sea of Thieves is in full storm of freshness. Rare just dropped a few sparks on what players can expect this month, and honestly, you should be pumping in that calendar soon! Gold & Glory weekends, Rare anniversary celebrations, and Community Weekend are up next. And oh damn, players are already losing their minds over it.
First up, the Gold & Glory. Those of you who might still be grinding through or, well, avoiding the current season have your golden ticket presented to you. Double the gold? Double the reputation? Double the reasons to finally get that cursed voyage out of your hair you’ve been putting off for so long? Some players, like Nate Gammon, have already spoken up, tweeting, “I’ll take Gold & Glory to finish the season though.” Same, Nate. Same.
But wait, there’s more—Rare anniversary rewards are coming through. While some players, Docteur Lobo particularly, are still searching for that Rare Ruby Emote to appear in their perks, others are just screaming for the cosmetics. Hansil basically begged, “Can we get this vest? PLEASE PRETTTY PLEASE! 🥺,” while Macheath is delivering his sea-demonic vibes with “FALLEN SEA DOG JACKET RAHHHHHHHHH.” So lovely-mood!
Then comes the Community Weekend. Quite the drama. Players like UntameableLuna asking, “What happened to our season 16 community weekend? We never had one.” Mama Headache responded with, “We are not getting a season 16 community weekend.” Oof. Nate Gammon came on for full-on mediation by pointing out, “there’s been one every season since season 5,” but hey—plans change, right?
And new players coming in! Tachito asks the million-dollar question: “Is there a third person camera mode?” MasMenno crushed hopes with, “Nope, there is not. It would break a lot of the immersion and sneaking gameplay.” Fair, but also… let us live our pirate fantasy, Rare.
Here’s where it goes on into pirate profile talks. Master, I mean Lotus_Koril, went on a mini-rant on cross-progression, questioning, “How could anyone roleplay, if all the cosmetics are locked?” Valid point, although—perhaps Rare has their trick all lined up? Or maybe they’re just enjoying the suffering. Who knows?
And oh, the Arena stans are still going strong. Zurlac blurted out, “When are you guys going to bring back arena?” Mama Headache came back with, “They won’t be.” Brutal.
So yes, Sea of Thieves is sinking this month under the weight of new content. There’s something for everybody, whether you come for gold, glory, or cries over jackets. But I will excuse myself now; I have a ship to steal-I mean, sail. Legitimately, of course.
