A new bug in VALORANT is giving poison to the name of VALORANT. When the bug kicks in, usually from resolution scaling and display settings alterations, there are frame drops, visual glitches, and unintended gameplay advantages that go uncorrected, one of which is completely negating flashes. Riot Games has given no public statements yet, but the entire community is earnestly asking for their intervention.

What is really happening here? The players say that the bug seems to trigger change in resolutions, suggesting situations in which the screen is cropped in an ill-fitting manner, or it just does not render properly for them. Some accused HDMI or DisplayPort handshake issues, while others went onto blame the game’s autoscale settings. Mark-TheWhale-W. attempted to describe the issue as a display-stack problem, not a Valorant issue, saying, “That’s not Valorant. That’s you fighting your display stack with zero map knowledge.”

Some resisted that explanation. Some players claimed they had to uninstall and reinstall the game at least three times before the monster in this particular issue would come back to haunt them. Some joked about exploiting the glitch for some “free elo.” The others just stopped playing till a fix had been provided.

The timing couldn’t be worse. VALORANT having just been ported to Unreal Engine 5 for smoother development, and now there are even more technical headaches. Silvertime tried to keep the drama below the radar: “New engine so new bugs. Nothing out of the ordinary when you work in tech.” Well, when your competitive shooter glitched during a session, from ranked match to ranked match, patience dies really fast.

In turn, the rage and memes started pouring in. Some of the few went with Luna’s “Jogão,” or “Great game,” while User wrath sarcastically accused the OP of “lying on the internet.” But it was human divy’s take on it that is the most relatable, where after uninstalling and reinstalling VALORANT three or four times, gave up and realized that it really wasn’t their own setup.

There has never been an ETA declared for the patch, but with the amount of noise and momentum this issue has built up on social media, Riot will almost certainly have to address it shortly. Until then, the only solution is to hang in there while the community wades through the jank or avoid it like the plague. In case you’re one of the lucky ones that find the glitch on your way, switching back to the 1920×1080 resolution might just do it for you.

Only time will tell now. Meanwhile, spamming might do some good; start tagging @VALORANTUpdated. Because in all honesty, nobody wants a ranked game determined through a resolution glitch.
