Fortnite dropped a whole wild collab series with FKA Twigs and North West-the daughter of Kanye, of course! However, people started going nuts about what could be perceived as a glaring omission: WHERE IS YE!? The new emote “Childlike Things” was released today in the shop, and some like it, but others are just confused. Why did Epic go with the girl’s side before her infamous dad?
ShiinaBR, a massive Fortnite leaker, tweeted a link for the emote, but all hell broke loose in the replies. Some players were clowning the emote, calling it “zesty” or “trash” while others just could not get over the fact that North West had put her first in Fortnite ahead of Kanye. We are all aware of why this has probably never come to fruition given Kanye’s… ahem recent controversies.
One player (@realjaayshot) said it exactly: “NORTH WEST COLLAB BEFORE KANYE 😭,” while others (@hauntedwoht) said the obvious, “they not collabing with a nazi.” Yeah… that tracks. Kanye’s whole antisemitic spiral last year definitely didn’t help his case for a Fortnite skin, no matter how badly some stans want it.
Not everyone is mad, though. Some players (@tgraybird) actually think the emote is “not even that bad,” while others (@gloomride) wished it were longer. Then we get into an even more complicated debate: whether FKA Twigs was the right choice—somebody (@Reddenedfast) even asked, “We couldn’t get like Blackpink or anything else…?”
Of course, the Kanye defenders hopped right in. One user (@bxn45I) went off on a rant: “nigga we do not give one fuck about Ye saying all this bullshit, it doesn’t affect any of our lives.” Then others (@dM00N8914), even as fans, admitted: “it ain’t gonna happen because of the crazy shit he says.”
Now that’s the real kicker – all this just confirms how far the Fortnite partnership game is from being predictable. One day it’s Dragon Ball; the other it’s Kanye’s 10-year-old daughter. And honestly? That’s exactly what brings us back to it again and again. With the new emote, or even without one, people sure do have a lot to talk about.
