Fans went berserk after Insomniac Games had tweeted a throwback snapshot of Fizzie, the energy-drink mascot, with the caption: “Even the brightest, beautiful sunrises pale in comparison to Fizzie’s brighter, way more beautiful-er laser eyes. 💥🤩💥 #SunsetOverdrive.”

The gates indeed opened wide in the wake of that tweet, for at long last, the player community could vent out its demands for new Sunset Overdrive content. The responses constituted a mad chaos, some crying out for a sequel and others demanding a PlayStation port, while yet others were busy reminding everyone how criminally underrated the game was.

Let’s parse it out. Sidelining several: people LOVE this game. Like, REALLY LOVE it. One of the responses in the thread outright said that it’s “the best game [Insomniac has] ever made,” while another guy said he’d played it twice “already” and would happily jump back in if that game landed on PS5. It WAS hyped!

And that’s where it gets funky. Sunset Overdrive was originally published as an Xbox One exclusive but now that Sony bought out Insomniac in 2019, PS owns the IP… Hence, somewhat messy. There were numerous comments shouting about how technically Microsoft would hold the rights to any sequels or DLC, so that in itself would make the PS5 port not so easy from the fan’s perspective.

All of those are great points, but some were still begging for a port. “Annual mandatory tweet asking for this to come to PS5,” joked a user. The other one was just asking for it too: “DROP THE SEQUEL INSOMNIAC,” with absolutely no chill!

Logic was quite bluntly approached by someone: “Get an Xbox.” But seriously-there’s a million times when it has NOT worked with what a gamer wants.

And then they showed up. The wildcards. Resistance fans. Yes, even as chaos ensued all over Sunset Overdrive, somebody random posed, “Resistance Remaster when?” Classic Twitter move.

So, what’s up? Is Sunset Overdrive 2 or the Port for PS5 going to happen any time soon? Not a word from Insomniac; however, the demands are insanely LOUD. They still seem to be busy with Spider-Man and Wolverine. That said, it confirmed that there are still some hearts for Sunset Overdrive. Perhaps they are even sneaking a peek at doing some kind of market research.

Till then, all we can do is keep barking into the void-Go back and play the original while we wait. Or, you know, just suck it up and buy an Xbox.
