Nintendo dropped this chaotic and completely meme-worthy thread on Twitter called “Toads Doing Things,” and the Internet lost it with a collective mind-meld. The thread had all sorts of weird Toad moments from Mario Kart World, which soon turned into hype and nostalgia with, of course, Nintendo fans demanding fixes, price drops, and an update on Metroid Prime 4. I mean, when has a Nintendo thread ever been straight to the point?

The post only read: “Toads Doing Things: a thread. 🧵 #MarioKartWorld,” displaying a collage of images of Toads doing all sorts of silly things—canoeing, camping, and just being cute little mushrooms! Within minutes, the comments quickly turned into a mashup of gaming demands, inside jokes, and the most serious Burger Toad advocate.

Some highlights? One user by the name of FluffyBlueyGreenie, who described herself as “#1 BURGER TOADS FAN,” exclaimed: “OMG TOAD YAYYYYY I NEED MORE TOAD THREADS,” while another user named CupKirb completely melted down at the sight of the Yellow Toad. Meanwhile, Captain Toad himself, or one of his multiple cryptic incarnations, unleashed a full-on 180 bird-flip of an argument where he unapologetically claimed, “No I’m not” to something. Truly, classic Twitter.

Well, Nintendo threads do involve their fair share of complaining, don’t they? Players then went off discussing Switch 2 achievements, cheaper game prices, and dock’s Ethernet fix. One very salty reply accused Nintendo of “price gouging their consumers and never listening to their community,” which, to be fair, but maybe not the vibe for a thread about Toads vibing in a river?

And it got crazier. Some started advertising this ideal “Toad 4-player co-op hiking and camping cozy game set in Mario World,” which sounds just too good ever to be realized. Then, others just kept dropping Rand Bowser Jr. meme dip-a-thon (gotta ask why) or SpongeBob “campfire song” clips. Just, because.

And then there were those Metroid Prime 4 fangirls and fanboys: forever wandering and forever waiting. One reply read, “Metroid Prime 4 release date doing things: A thread.” Oof. Nintendo, bitch, will.yo.u.ne.ver.get.aw.a.y.f.r.o.m.this.

Interruption aside, the thread managed to inspire some genuine excitement about Mario Kart World, and players began reminiscing about Super Mario Party, begging for more tracks. There was even one user demanding Toad’s colors to be changed in Mario Kart, which… both legit.

What we can infer: Nintendo’s social media team knows how to drop a couple of photos of Toad and ignite chaos, and gamers will always manage to turn it into a platform for demands. At least, they did spawn some quality memes after all. And if for nothing else, the thread laid down this hard truth: every last soul on Earth is mad for Toads, even though they won’t admit it while they’re shouting about Switch prices.
