The Deviljho Drop: This sandstorm over Capcom’s hectic return in the offending way into Monster Hunter fans-away with some of the games’ most famous monsters chained into stories of their own, including Rise’s Magnamalo–the official Monster Hunter Twitter account promised some more big reveals with cryptic hype-and the gaming crowd just loses it.
Capcom’s Twitter feed said plainly: “Befriend, raise, and fight monsters of the franchise’s past.” Yet, the biggest news was that Magnamalo, the fiery, samurai-style wyvern from Monster Hunter Rise, will be joining the cast. That single announcement put the community into a full-out frenzy, with responses from pure joy to downright passionate cries to get others on that list.
The very first reply was from IvoryLagiacrus asking simply, “Nice, but can we pet them?”âwhich I feel is a superb question on a bonding-with-monster type of game. Meanwhile, people like Brettkuđ were shaking in their boots creating wishlists to beg for Ruiner Nergigante, Raging Brachydios, and even Lunastra to be included. Then, one player straight-up ordered Chameleosâif just politely asked, because who wouldn’t want that sneaky little poison-spitting chameleon dragon as a buddy?
But then people were not just screaming for their lovely monsters. There were questions from Mencino, asking if Stories 3 would be more narrative, or would it be all about gameplay, while Pat Holidays-in-Daydreams asked if they would have to play the first two games to get this one. Luckily, the community stood up for both, assuring them that all three Stories games are very much stand-alone.
And now, nearly murderous debates arose, with one arguing Gore Magala would not be included due to lore reasons (some nonsense about the Frenzy virus and Makili Pietru?) and another user outright saying Stories 1 was better than 2. Classic Monster Hunter fansâalways eager to debate which game did it better.
And so the memes came flooding through. One player announced that Magnamalo was going to be “permanent team member,” while another roared “YES YES YES YES YES!” in capital letters. Pretty much true.
So far, no release date has been mentioned, but with all this hype, Monster Hunter Stories 3 very much seems to be the one all Monster Hunter fans have to play. This one we’re going to be waiting for: for the monsters, the story, and finally, the chance for petting a Deviljho (please, Capcom, fix that model).
So keep an eye out for more reveals-because if the response to Magnamalo is any indication, the next monster reveal will descend upon the Internet for a meltdown.
