Overwatch’s deal does greatly favor players who want to stay with friends, or maybe with some random stranger-why not? The official Overwatch Twitter account announced that teaming up with a friend or two will get you three Epic Loot Boxes. Easy as pie. No strange tasks, hours of grinding; just pair up, play, and there–free loot.
Now, take into consideration that some players are just sitting at home with no squad that is ready to jump. And the replies? Oh boy, the hype is half desperate and half comedic. @superfunknown just straightaway said, “I need a friend on PC.” Mood. Another, @LaMirxc0Ol, gave us the classic solo player lament: “Solo play sooo i guess that leaves me out.” Brutal.
Then, “Spamming random MFs in my quickplay teams with group invites worked for me,” shared @ComptePoubOW, shattering all order. Respect the hustle that is. On the other hand, the unending cry for assistance from the game community was voiced: “@Me1_RizeClan Anyone on console wanna help out? 🥺” The struggle is indeed real.
Some players weren’t thrilled about what was in the loot boxes. “@loneangst: They’re only filled with emotes and intros!” Ouch. Meanwhile, @MerrickMgm693 carried on with a lengthy rant and claimed the event gives you one less loot box than the other, ending with, “Those suits man are crazy.” Can’t argue with that.
Besides that, most players didn’t whine all that much about the event. And here came @Quickzy3549 with some great advice: “Go into a QP match and just ask in chat ‘anyone want to queue for loot boxes?'” So smart. Then, there was @MattehBoom narrating how they got a random teammate just by asking at the very start of a round. Sometimes, the gaming community really has your back.
Alongside the short tips was the ever Luiz,@Nyx4961 asks: “Bastion Mythic skin when?” And then @Adverse_F just outright said: “No one is returning to ow for this shi.” Harsh but fair.
So, what is the verdict? Easy loot with a friend-or if you are brave enough to ask a stranger. Otherwise? The replies are flooded with people looking for teammates-You could take this opportunity to make a new buddy. Or at least get those boxes before awkwardly unfriending them later.
Now that the event is launched, you might just want to put recruiting on hold for some Epic Loot Boxes or just, you know, spam quickplay invites like @ComptePoubOW. No judgments here.
Those still wondering? There hasn’t been any announcement by Blizzard as yet over any Bastion Mythic skin. Maybe if we all complain enough, the boys will drop something-something like another loot box.
Loot box grabber, keep on, mates! Or don’t. The Overwatch community is doing what it does best-yet another bout of chaotic madness, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now if you would excuse me, I have some random quickplay teammates to bother with invites. Wish me luck!
