So PlayStation went and posted a tweet that explained how one could change his online status to appear offline. Pretty neat, right? Well, gamers are NOT happy. The reply section is filled with eyerolls, sarcasm, and outright feature requests that Xbox and Nintendo have been sitting on for years. And to be honest, those guys do have a point.

In the first place, the tweet was said like this: “I want to play solo on the PlayStation Network without alerting my friendsπŸ‘‰πŸ‘ˆ,” giving a link to the webpage to change online status. Very soon, gamers called out this half-baked appearance of online system for the company to appear offline. Takis856 said the real flaw behind this system really eloquently: “So how about we make there not be 50 other ways they can tell your online while having it set to offline.” Yikes.

It was not just about privacy either. The more the gamers feel the need for social features on PlayStation, the more it feels like their competitor is standing still. Renato posed one fair question, “Nintendo Xbox has this option, I don’t understand why it doesn’t exist on PlayStation.” Even PC is winning when it comes to Discord integration-crying from @Unknown_Spot1: “I want to share my gameplay directly to Discord??”

Then, put a pin on that. A couple of players keep searching for options through all points of time. @alpert86tc looks for a region change option, @RoseliaKokomi wants to get PS3 avatars back, and then there’s @Legit_Web3 holding out some hope for either PS3 back-compatibility or a Warhawk remaster (Sony, please consider this man’s agony).

Beyond that, the same discussion about PS Plus is still going: Inkfell__pc2 chimed in with something all-too-relatable: “I want to play online games with my friends without paying ps+πŸ‘‰πŸ‘ˆ” In the meantime, MrGreatness829 fully collected his rant: “This was the worse feature added to PlayStation! Like why in the fck do I want to have a person on my friend list when he spent the whole year playing offline?”

And then, the cherry on top: @forest_green1 just added, “Bold of you to assume we have friends on PS network.” Ouch. But also…same.

Beyond this, it is crystal clear that all PlayStation players want is themselves a console that can actually compete on these fields. Some privacy options, social networking features, and perhaps-backwards compatibility. Who’s gonna listen to Sony? We do not know, but those angry gamers are going to keep on tweeting and complaining about it.

Well, if you are one of those types that just want to vibe solo without any of their friends knowing they’re on…good luck! Because apparently, even when you’re “offline,” PlayStation finds a way to snitch.
