Earlier on, the official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account released yet another hilarious nugget of chaos, and the gamers had just started going berserk. The tweet showed a train ticket with “Templar Rail” written on it, with the caption: “Our community manager got on a train this morning. Didn’t realize the Templars were still hiding in plain sight…”
Really now? The ancient order of power-hungry secret society members supposedly sits atop a railway company now! Or at least that is what the joke is going from Ubisoft’s social media team. Honestly, this insane “breaking the fourth wall” humor is the real fun in the RabbitHole of Assassin’s Creed.
Replying to that tweet was a landmine of memes, theories, and outright confusion. One guy named @Wolfie_Whispers remarked, “Them Templars are sneaky ones, gotta be on the lookout all the time.” More ominously, @FineNDanDee commented, “They are among us…”
But perhaps the best part? The Assassin’s Creed account went all the way in supporting this joke. When @Torryder jokingly said they had assassins in every office, the account volleyed right back with “Removing the threat, one staple at a time.” Bob and weave and cross!
And yet, of course, not everyone was spending the whole time cracking jokes. Some gamers took the opportunity to put some actual game update requests on the table. @ajlamotte pleaded: “Kind Ubisoft, can you add an option to manually change the seasons please? It would help with my immersion.” Then, you will not believe what happened. Another player, @Batweiss, jumped in, complaining that Ubisoft had just announced the addition of an option to skip time. Did that actually happen? Or is it just another layer in the trolling? I haven’t been able to decide yet.
Then, wild theories surfaced: @OlgaBaikova, with a completely on-brand handle for herself, “The 1 Assassin,” literally asked where the community manager was being taken, saying, “I have connections with multiple assassin’s bureaus around the world. Might offer assistance. 😉.” The official account went along with this, replying, “We can’t divulge information on an active mission, but the results will reveal themselves eventually 😉.”
Then the chaos took hold. @pie1883 tweeted, “I look forward to Assassins Creed: Railway,” an honestly fever dream kind of spin-off we never realized we needed. Meanwhile, @Mr_B_123 made the ultimate Assassin’s Creed prayer: “May the father of understanding guide us to the replacement bus service.”
The bigger question then is—what comes next? Is this just a funny gag on social media or is Ubisoft really onto something serious here? A new game set in a modern world, where the Templars control…public transportation? A DLC about sabotaging train schedules? Or just Photoshop gags from a playful community manager?
That said, the Assassin’s Creed Twitter account keeps being one of the best around player engagement. Whether it’s lore drops, memes, or pure trolling, they keep the conversation going around. And honestly, in a world where game news is either so serious or so corporate that it hurts to sit through, it is nice to see a big franchise have some fun for once.
So, gamers, sharpen those hidden blades. Templars are changing. And apparently, they have a rail pass deal you will not want to miss.
