Capcom has now revealed the finalists for the #MHWilds Design Contest, and the Monster Hunter community is either very excited or strongly clustered in opinions about it. The contest involved submissions, putting in designs for weapons and pendants for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. There are now eight finalists, and the winners will be announced on September 27th; however, the discussions have already begun, with gamers taking sides and begging for bug fixes.
Some positive comments. Some designs—very few—I acknowledge, glittered much with charm. There is this pendant creating so much pre-release hype that one can almost hear the cries: “PLEASE I NEED IT.” There are probably gamers who are picturing their screens cracking under the sheer awesomeness of the greatsword design, while those very few who appreciate the ghostly kinsect design must be licking their lips.
The bad matches are not so pleasing. Poor Hunting Horn mains: devastated. Zero. Finalists. For the fourth time in a row. Another one puts it succinctly just, “Sadge no hunting horns 😭.” And another one complains that out of four Hunting Horn submissions, none got picked, whereas two Charge Blades did, which really stirs some people up. “Why is there always a CB?” one player exclaimed. “Could have given us the WyvernIgnition and BlackRaven from World/Iceborne and it would’ve been fine.”
Okay, there are those Switch Axe players quietly begging in the corner. “The switch axe, please 🙏🥹,” one player tweeted, another one goes on to joke that Capcom “can’t comprehend the sheer godly power” of their favorite design.
And going with the tradition on every Monster Hunter announcement, there are also comments for fixing the game: Lightning bugs, missing features—you name it, somebody is demanding it gets patched yesterday.
The real winners, though, are those who have made the finals. Shoutout to @gandalfsoda and @StormriderArt, who’ve caught the attention of fellow players. Whatever winds up in Wilds, this community respect is well-earned.
Mark the date, September 27. Will Charge Blade win again? Will the Hunting Horn mains finally get to bask in the glory? Or will Capcom give everyone an unexpected jolt? The reaction is bound to be legendary.
Still sour because your favorite got snubbed? Well, get going next time. Or just bombard Capcom’s mentions enough until they yield. That also works.
